Elite Schools

Sall, agree, my girl's school is not in the elite list, but they have this special cirriculum where parents have to pay for such as speech and drama, gym, poetry, golf, belly dancing and goodness knows what else...When I compare all the exam papers from neighbourhood sch and elite sch, they don't seem to be very much different. Last yr, one neighbourhood sch set a killer paper, which was much more difficult than RGS or Tao Nan.
But elite sch seem to have a wider selection of CCA. But I just found out some neighbourhood sch are sending their students for golf lessons and ballet. So neighbourhood sch are also catching up with these so-called elite sch. -

But really, if you compare the papers, all sch, elite or not, will have 2 or 3 more challenging qns, the rest are managable. -

Belly dancing for pri sch kids? Maybe I'm too conservative, but I won't send my girl for this activity.

Should we set up a small group and member exchange \"resources\"?
I wouldn't be too explicit here.. you get what I mean..
Everyone contribute their share.. the kids benefit by increased exposure to other school's questions.
and cut the profiteering by unscrupulous businessman.. -

:yikes: I suppose if they're not required to wear bikini tops with belly-revealing attire and cut out the sexy moves it's okay. But wait, what's belly dancing without the outfits and the hip gyrations?

I am conservative too and I find belly dancing and pole dancing too erotic and suggestive to be perform in public. Recently I was at a shopping cenrtre and they had this belly dancing on stage, it was Sunday and there were family shopping with kids and at one stage, the dancer's back was facing the audience and she was performing in such a manner that reminds me of striptease (sorry but I felt that way) and there were many kids watching too :yikes: I noticed a young boy 3-4 yrs old imitating her while his parents were watching :yikes:

do parents with kids in elite schools really brag about it?
it is the parents - looking for bragging rights
maybe i don't have friends around me with kids in elite school (most friends' kids are still in preschool!).....and those that i know of that graduate from so-call elite schools, they all seems to be regular people leh.
my son in neighbourhood school but i like to brag about him too leh...
the main distinction i agree is the quality/variety of CCAs offered in such schools.
