Presidential Election 2011

Stparent, I am leaning towards TCB for similar reasons. There are unanswered questions over Dr TT (u know what) and i think we need a break from the past. TJS does not give me good vibes and TKL even less so.
I am beginning to think like this too... mmm.... :skeptical: -

With professional make over, any popeye and olive can be transformed.
OK, point taken. So I should dig deeper instead of being so superficial.

Hmmm...great minds think alike. Me too. :hi5:
Then again, anything can change, final decision will depend on their rallies and TV appearances and TV interviews.DesertWind:

Vote TT, nothing changes.
Vote TCB, at best, he is another OTC.
Vote TKL, not sure what will happen.
Vote TJS, you get checks and balances. -

[/quote]I feel that I am potentially leaning towards TCB. But I saw TJS in person on sunday at parkway. He was with his group of supporters including Nicole Seah. He approached us. At that point, I feel that probably his pictures on the media does not do justice to him. He look alot more approachable in person.Hmmm...great minds think alike. Me too. :hi5:

In any case, just feel that media tend to do more coverage of TT. It's an unfair game to begin with. -

In what way? Other than g'ment spending reserves, he's got no statutory powers to do anything outside of what cabinet advises. He'll just be one frustrated puppy trying to push an agenda that he has no power to.
Vote TJS, you get checks and balances.
I think if he wants to check and balance, he's better off as an opposition MP, am I mean this seriously. In this regard, I am suspicious of his motives, is it public office at all cost? Just 3 months ago he was in a GE. JMHO.
Generally, due to the limited remit of the role, and the candidates on display, I can live with any of them being elected. -
anyone here leaning towards TJS too?
-
concern2:
I really don't see much TJS can do in terms of so-called \"checks and balances\" as his hands are tied even if he does win this election. The President really has no power at all at the end of the day.Vote TT, nothing changes.

But out of the four, he will be the ONE who will make the most noise even if it comes to naught. That is why I WILL vote for him and also to give PAP the wake-up call it needs as so far, they are still pushing ahead with the policies (under pretense now that they are listening to us more).
I still would have prefered TJS to be an MP instead of EP but too bad my constituency didn't think so and he wasn't voted in.
It'll be the same story like the WP MPs. What can they do? They are a pathetic minority in Parliament. Come 2016, everyone will ask where are the \"checks and balances\" we were promised??? But they fail to see that in order for that to happen, PAP must not be the large majority.
Everybody is wishing that PAP will listen to us more before they push ahead with the policies but how long must we wait for this to happen?
I would vote for CHANGE now. -

Listen doesn't mean that they need to implement.

I would vote for CHANGE now.
I'd prefer they implement the RIGHT policy rather then the POPULAR one.
In my view the PAP have already become too populist for my liking. -
MMM:
Because there is NO FREE PRESS here. The government (ahem, you know who) has to approve what can be printed/aired.
In any case, just feel that media tend to do more coverage of TT. It's an unfair game to begin with.
TJS is very very passionate about his cause. He was actually very gutted after the loss at GE and for a while, he didn't know what was to come next.
This PE, i think he just saw it as a chance he can still serve the people and forward his cause, no matter how in denial he is of the actual powers of the President.
I respect him for his tenacity and never-give-up attitude.
Since the President can't do much anyway, what harm will come from voting TJS then? He's the LEAST unlikely one to be a silent PAP-lackey.
