It’s shocking how expensive the Burmese maids are becoming! I agree totally that they are quite out of this world. Super difficult to train 'cos super stubborn and like what Moonee said…"they tend to do things that surprises me"…sometimes even shocking things! They are also quite rude. For $100 more…they’ll have difficulty finding jobs if not for the shortage of Indo and Philippinos.

Moonee, your maid agency not bad leh, allows you to re-adjust the maid's salary and contract. Most agents would rather transfer the maids cos they get a cut each time a maid is transferred to another employer. Some even tell their maids to ask employer for transfer if they not happy. That's why some maids will dare to ask to go back to agent (for transfer) if they not happy over the slightest thing.

        moonee:
Personally, I have taken maids at the price tht the agent recommended but when I complained that they could not perform and i was being overcharge, the agent re-adjusted the salary lower. I guess its more effective than sending her back for a transfer or back home.

I think all agents will prefer to stick to the contrract then to revise the pay, but so far two that I had dealings with didnt mind. My current maid knows where she stands and the agent told me to decide myself when I should pay her 20 bucks as she came a week b4 the end of the month, so if I decide to keep her I dont need to ask him to endose the contract should I adjust her salary.

What can the agents do if the maid wants to work on and the employer and maid agree to a small adjustment. The same goes for an increment, I didnt tell my agent when i increased my filipina after her third month neither did we change the contract. I guess if the loan is not affected they hv nothing much to say.

Anyone knows which agent or agency is good for Burmese maids? My friend told me they are cheaper and easier to train. Not sure if it is true though.

Seems like yr friend hv a burmese maid, if so, shes very lucky to have one that is cheap and trainable, you could check the name of her agent and share with us. Whats the price shes paying for her burmese?

I will check with her, I think she is paying around $200 plus. She says the maid is easy to train as in she will listen and not go wild but for cooking and housework need to train like xiao but finally she got it. So I am not sure if its worth the ‘xiao’

                  part.

$560! wow is that a philipina? anyway I think $200+ for a maid is almost unheard off these days.

I have had teachable and unteachable maids from indon and philippines. So far this burmese one I currently cooks best (teachable in that sense) but is so irritatingly forgetful in other areas. Likes to do things her way. To me that is difficult to train.

Overall, I am most stressed up by the burmese one, partly because I think she is too young.
