          Hi,

My son is 6 yrs old this year, he has attend the piano class at the ccc which provided by Seimpi, as he will graduate this year end, so I wll pull him out, but have not idea whether I should go for the indivial class or continue the lesson with Seimpi, if with seimpi, it will take 2 yrs time to go for grade 1, if I go for indivial class , will it be more effective, does any one have the simelar experience like me?
          Thanks.

every courses parent sign for children, must make sure you plan time to practice and monitor their work. Individual class definitely more effective coz of flexibility in arrange exam period based on your child standard. But it also will make students go back to group lesson coz of friend’s stress. And group classes did set target for certain grade for exam along the 2 or 4 years course. It’s not as easy as individual lesson as it can delay the years of learning.

Any good music school to recommand in kovan/hougang area? My son has been with My Music Inspiration for 1 year, per individual piano lesson is $30 for 45min. He's doing ok except that there's no much feedback from the teacher, I don't really have any idea how's his progress (am not musically trained) and he doesn't seem to have much interest in playing at home. I want him to embrace music as something that he will enjoy in his later part of life...doesn't seem like the teacher is installing this interest or motivation in him. In fact, I often heard her raising her voice at the kids for not 'memorising' the notes for their theoratical homework. Now pondering am I paying too much for him to this kind of exposure?

              Hi
My boy is attending the music class in My Inspiration and he got the same feedback as yours. He also don't have the interest to play at home. We are thinking to swap him to another teacher.

My son is currently with Cristofori Simei since this Mar. He ever joined Cristofori Punggol last year but drop out due to the fact that the teacher was very unmotivated. Rejoined cristofori MLM class in Mar this year after a fren shared with me that the teacher in another centre who teaches MLM is good and effective.

So far, he is progressing well. I must confess that he is not diligent in his practises as we are not strict with him... and it will affect the learning progress.

Thus, it's all depend on the teacher and the amount of practises the kids put in , not solely on the school... the school curriculum does play a part in creating the interests and wanting to learn.
                Hi
I am looking at a good teacher which is able to motive my boy, any good recommendation?

Just MHO, sharing how I motivate ds to practice piano every day. DS is able to read notes within two months of joining group class. In class, the teacher taught the notes and how to play a song. What I have noted is that she skips the fingering exercise in the book. So, I encourage ds to do finger exercise by reading the notes and ensures that he knows which fingers must be use for which notes. Lastly, when he is well versed with notes reading, the next step was to ensure that his eyes is fix on the notes and not on the keyboard when playing. That was the start.

He did show his reluctance (it's not easy) but I actually struggle to learn and play the notes too. When I succeed, he is more motivated and it is a challenge between us, who will be able to play better.

It's been five months now. His motivation has started to wane again. This time is not because of struggling to learn but he was way ahead of the class and waiting patiently for the teacher to catch on. So to sustain his interest, what I have done is to decipher the new notes by reading the explanation found in the book and encourage him to try playing the new song. Again, we learn how to decipher the notes together and pick on each other mistake until we perfected our playing.

If, I were to leave him on his own to practice, I doubt he will be as motivated as he is now.

My dd started her music at age 3+ with Seimpi, now she is 6 and in absrm grade 2 theory and 3 practical, I don't get it. Did the teacher explai n anything to you why its 2 yrs???? I go to Funan centre. though its personnal capability and talent I think its too long. cause there are children who take the practical exams very early. I am going in a relaxed mode i.e. we are taking the exam one at a time. but you can skip the exams too. again its depends on the child. My dd is a bit slow in picking up....

                      Hi hi,

My boy is attending the piano class at his school and his school engages the music teacher from My Inspiration too, and we encounter the same thing as you. In fact he just had his annual concert and he only progressed 1 song in one year.

This teacher left My Inspiration sometime this year but continues the lessons in her own capacity. But what I dislike is that she took 1 month leave earlier this year and she frequently changes lesson at the last minute.

So we decided to pull him out, and realised that we need to give 1 month notice 😞

                      Sigh.
