      mummyo:

How does 40% support translates to just 7% of opposition representation in Parliament?!! Is that right?
It is possible that even if the PAP win 50.0000000001% of the votes, there will still be ZERO opposition in parliament, even if every candidate is from SMC and there is no GRC.

Every candidate needs to win by only one vote majority to be in parliament.

So don't be surprised if the oppo gets 49.99999999% of the popular votes but loses in every seat by one vote.

Unless the constitution is changed to make the parliament one of proportionate representation, in which case we will see quite a number of monkeys in parliament

Saw the mail and was a bit mystified. Then again, when buy house, suddenly property agents of all sorts and patterns start calling me at all times of the day and sometimes night asking if want to sell/rent out - and itโ€™s not just one person calling. And they also know how much I bought, and keep trying to tell me how much I can earn (woah lau, then sleep on street izit).

Back to topic. Watched both english and chinese broadcast last night. Quite enlightening becos Iโ€™ve not heard most of them speak before. Was a bit funny for chinese segment when some apparently rely on hypy when reading out their speech.

listening to their speech in mandarin really makes me :faint: :faint: :faint:

can't speak then get some one to voice over and state \"sorry can't speak mandarin\", no one will fault them. Mr Na Tan can't speak mandarin, right ? Me Sheares and Mr Ishak and Mr Nair can't speak mandarin right ? Of course not many can be as fluent as OTC or LHL, but don't compare.

          tsk tsk tsk

quite agree. I was surprised when TCB had voiceover. Then I realised that his is one of the more 'can hear' speech.

There's just one that blatantly cannot make it, I was giggling halfway and couldn't bring myself to pay attention. ๐Ÿ˜›

Conclusion: if cannot, nonid to force, I understand.

Haha must go and listen. Only heard the EL. Hubby gave up when he heard TKL's EL speech. He said the way he speaks/ the voice just makes people tune out immediately. So he asked me to switch to the next Tan. But I heard some part of TKL's speech in mandarin. So who is the one who can't make it???

alot of โ€˜blindโ€™ votes will go to TT coz heโ€™s most famous and also deemed most qualified as he had held the highest office among the 4.

I was surprised when he said \"I am Tan Kim Lian\". Anyway, it must not have been easy to sit down there, one camera point to your face and it's a 10 min speech. So kudos to all the candidates.

As for the chinese cmi one, a bit rude to say, just go watch. you can watch one less (since i mentioned TCB used voice over).

Actually was itching to see if there are malay and tamil versions, I won't know what' they are saying, it's just to see which candidate used his own voice. I must be :siao:
