Hi all,
I need help with this question.
On Saturday pants in a shop were sold at $30 each.
On Sunday the price of pants was reduced and number of pants sold
increased by 50% while the amount collected increased by 25%.
Find the price of pair of pants sold on Sunday.

Let x=number of pants sold on Sat
Amount collected on Sat = 30x
Number of pants sold on Sun = 1.5x (increased by 50%)
Let y=price of pants on Sun
Amount collected on Sun = 1.5xy
Since amt collected on Sun increased by 25%
the eqn is
30x * 1.25 = 1.5xy
37.5x = 1.5xy
y = $25

Ron had some chocolates and sweets. If Ron sold 18 chocolates and 24 sweets each day, there would still be 25 chocolates left when all the sweets were sold. If Ron sold 13 chocolates and 30 sweets each day, he would still have 139 chocolates left when all the sweets were sold. How many chocolates and sweets did Ron have? -

Based on your reply, am I right to say that two different answers are marked correct by the teacher? One is 22. what is the other?
A pair of hamsters can produce a pair of baby hamsters every month. The baby hamsters take a month before they can reproduce another pair of baby hamsters.How many pairs of hamsters (adult and baby) will there be by the end of 6 months?
In answering this question, one has to make assumptions.
Please refer to articles on Fibonacci Sequence, the assumptions made on rabbits are:

[/list]To get the answer of 13, one starts with the assumption that a newly born pair of rabbits are put in the enclosure.
Can reproduce once every month
Can reproduce once they are one month old.

Why 22 is marked correct by the teacher, we can only understand better if we get to see the assumptions made in their workings.

Read the topic on Fibonacci Numbers, instead of hamsters, the question is about rabbits and the answer is 233 pairs after one year.
However, if you assume that you started off with a productive pair of rabbits instead of a pair of newly born; you’ll get an answer of 21.
I think the answer is either 13 or 21 depending on the assumption one made.

Setting off at the same time, Jack and Sam walked from Village X to Village Y while Nasim walked from Village Y to Village X. Nasim passed Jack 10 minutes after passing Sam. Find the distance between the two villages.

There are two or three ways to go about this question.
As in any questions on “Speed”, it’s always useful to draw a diagram and put in the information bit by bit.
One neat way is to use the concept of combined speed.
Distance ------ Speed*Time
Jack and Nasim had a combined speed of 140m/min.
Sam and Nasim had a combined speed of 150m/min.
Ratio of speed ------- Jack and Nasim: Jack and Sam --------14:15
As we know the faster the speed, the lesser the time taken.
So their time ratio ------- Jack and Nasim: Jack and Sam --------15:14
The difference is 1 unit
1 unit ------10 mins
Jack will meet Nasim in 150 mins
And Jack will meet Sam in 140 mins
Hence, distance between the two villages ------ (150*140) or (140*150)
The answer is 21000m or 21km.

I assume that students are allowed to use the calculators for your question.
A cube has 6 surfaces.
Area of 1 surface ------ 364/6 ------ 60.67cm2
A cube has equal sides.
Length or breadth of 1 side ------- 7.79 (square root of 60.67, use the calculator)
Volume of cube ------- L*B*H -------- 7.79*7.79*7.79 --------472.73cm3
