Random Acts of Kindness - Time to feel GOOD

:goodpost:I like the elderly cleaners too. They're really very sweet when you smile at them and thank them for keeping the place clean. I guess they don't get thanked very often so they're really appreciative when you are appreciative.
It's just nice to spread the smiles around. A little kindness goes a long way. I've found also that anger and ill will are contagious too. -

...Today I did not tip the cleaner but thank her as she cleared our table. I then asked her \"Auntie, jia bah buay?\" She replied that she has already had her lunch and what if she has not? I told her I did not mind buying her lunch if she had not eaten.....
I'm sure your small gesture had made her day ! :celebrate: -
There was a period of time that I frequent Harbourfront area. It was quite common to see tourist, looking helpless lost flipping through their guidebook or map there. Usually, they are either looking for the cable-car station or the Sentosa Express Station, but do not know how to get there. I would approach them and offer to my help to give direction. Hopefully, these small acts would enhance their experience & memory of their visit to Singapore.

Chief, happiness is giving.Yes... paying it forward... but sometimes it comes back in a rather ugly fashion...
1. I was standing behind this man at MacDonalds in Funan Centre who wanted to pay for a mac chicken meal for 50cents. He must be a Malaysian or something, dressed roughly, but doesn't look like a beggar. The meal was already prepared in a bag, but the staff refused to give it to him. So I basically offered to pay for him. The chap just took the meal and walked away without so much of thanks or even look at me.
2. I was walking to my office in the morning along Fort Canning hill and in front of me was the same lady pushing her trolley of belongings. She waited for me to catch up just to ask me to give her another $10 because that was what I did the day before on my own accord. So I guess I became a walking ATM for her.
These incidents make me feel stupid and taken advantage of. No, there are times when it doesn't feel good to do charity. I guess I have to change to look less approachable, be less trusting of people, and learn to say no.

another eg of giving may not be happiness...we gave the HDB appointed contractor workers some packet drinks when they were painting along our corridor. then they simply litter the empty packets beside the refuse chute. :faint:

I understand, and I'm not asking them to ingratiate themselves to my small \"givings\", but these are adults. Common courtesy would be to not take advantage of others who have been nice to you.
When it comes to children, I'm actually ok. Many a times I have driven a couple of kids from a broken home to their classes. They are quiet, and they don't say thank you. I attribute that to their wish to preserve self-dignity and the fact that they don't like to think that I am giving them charity. They didn't asked to be chauffered. I was the one that insisted. -
Do you recall some yearsβ back there were frequent report of some Chinese con-artist, telling people that they lost their wallet or something like that, need to borrow some money to eat & go airport to meet arriving boss, promise to return money once met up with boss, etc etc?
well during that period, I met a Chinese, who tried to borrow money from me giving some story similar to the con-artists. in my mind 90% or perhaps even 99% that this Chinese was a con-artist. But at the same time, I do not wish to denial help to a real person in need just because of poor timing. So I gave him S$5, just enough for some food and MRT ride to airport. -
Many many years ago, my mum was approached by some sec sch kids for exchange of 20cent coins to 10cent coins so as to make public phone call. The moment my mum took out her wallet, the kids snatched it and ran away!!! :yikes: From then on, I get very scared if strangers wanna borrow money from me.

I once met a guy who held the door for me when I was approaching the entrance to a shopping mall. I was carrying my baby in one arm and holding the hand of my other child with my other hand. The funny part was the door was an automatic door!!!
Still it was very very nice of him!
