absolutely absolutely agree ! I made up my mind about him after watching the broadcasts and profiles. I am one stubborn cow so this perception of him will be with me in 2016 GE and beyond. Having Nonya Kuey shown with him actually did more harm than good for him, with regards to my 1 vote.

Hmmmmm.....what about TT? It also seems that PAP die die want their own member to be a president as well. Is it because of hidden agenda or does not want any outsiders to know too much on what's going on in the nation reserves? I don't know.......as I am also throwing out question. Don't know who to trust.

Agreed on his confrontational. But he does bring out alot of interesting points and rebuttal. Even TOC is giving him much favour as compared to TT. After all that TJS has mentioned, I just somehow feel that alot of policies were not dealt in good faith and much thought for the people. It takes so many years for the government to finally review some policy for the people.....on what price? Only after people show much resentment? This PE suddenly makes think that the role of president is actually important. Just like Ong Teng Cheong.....he was unbias and he does alot of questioning.....and in the end his used-to-be-party found him \"troublesome\". This was the exact word mentioned by our current PM. -
TCB and TKL are so quiet and they did not say much in the TOC Discussion Forum.
TT handshake reminds me of upper class and lower class disparity. Is he looking down on hardworking poor people?

TJS is like a hardcore serious debater.

I only know TT is out for me as it's far too obvious he has strong backup. TJS as mentioned by someone, is a bit confrontational but agreed that he does raise very good points and issues. TCB looks very warm and serious and TKL seems earnest to serve though he does pale in comparison to the others in speeches. Gotta read more and hear more before casting my vote next Saturday. -

Yeah, I have the same thoughts.
I want a president that will unify Singaporeans and not divide. This should not be another GE. I also think the president need to be a competent state host as he will spend large part of his time on this. -
Just now I left a comment at TKL website to comment he back fire me coz he propose our girl to do NS, to my horror, he deleted my post. Sooooo coward and not transparent!!

It is obvious that there will always be a group who do not want any confrontation whatsover, so as to not rock the boat or create any instability.
There will also be a group who wants the President to simply look good for ceremonial duties and stand out with dignity when representing Singapore internationally.
There will be one that just want a grandpa kind of feeling President, who will give the air of assurance and contented feeling when you see them.
And of course, there is a group who simply want someone to be there to speak out against the ruling party. This is too extreme and truly we DO NOT want that.
But do most people actually know what an Elected President is supposed to do ? It is not just to smile and co-operate fully with the cabinet to ensure no dispute. But we did away with the ceremonial president before and now it is the elected President, because of the new powers and duties included in the early 90s.

Nobody wants a confrontation - was OTC confrontational before ? Was that a bad thing ? Were the people aggrieved when he asked for answers ?

Personally, my initial choice was TJS, for I know he will speak out IF there was any misuse, abuse, deceit or public was misinformed - not that it will occur of course. But yes, I also agree, his previous association with SDP and the way he reacts sometimes seems too gun-happy, makes him almost as impartial and non-independent as TT, who has been endorsed by almost everyone linked to the ruling party. I hoped he just stick to his check and balance vow, which is what many people wanted.
TKL seems out of depth, though he means well truly. TCB seemingly appears to be truly independent, and has shown he is willing to speak out. But under intense heavy fire, will he buckle ? Will he back off and relent ? I think TJS wont, but I also dont want someone going in looking for a fight intentionally.
So, the lesser of all evils, but definitely a break from a PAP yes-man please ( after so many years ). I guess TCB falls nicely into that category, imho. A change, but not a drastic one. A dignified figure, but not a cowboy nor a puppet.
I have always been warned of smiling tigers and I never liked puppets, so my choice will be from 2 of the 4 only.
Seriously, why not all ever wonder why TT would leave his cushy position in GIC to stand for EP ? to independently serve the people in times of need ? per...leeessee. His action during the ISA topic with TJS shows which side he still think he stands, and where his loyalty is. Independent, above politics ? and the PT 12 yr matter still lingers in our mind :snooze:
