Have the same impression from their \"open house\". Especially that SST is setup through a collaboration between the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP). -
McLaren:
NUS High School and SST in the same level. they just receive university bound student. In the future, maybe SST will be one of them. Never Say Never.
Wow, that means getting into SST will be as tough as getting into NUS High?? :nailbite:
When our turn comes next year.....this might well be just another dream for my DS! -
My son is in SST. In term of stress, I dont think he displays signs of stress more than other Sec School children. May be because he is only in Sec 1. On curriculum, I know SST does not follow the mainstream curriculum, not sure if it is more difficult. From what I have experienced, SST is geared towards bringing out the best potential in the kids taking the university path - whether poly or JC bound.

They give students a strong foundation to progress to either the junior colleges or polytechnics, and subsequently to university. And the most important and role key is your child not us.

Wow. If more difficult than RI and hci. I am sure it should be the most difficult to get in? Any idea if the cut off is higher than 260 for psle?
From what I understand it is geared more towards polytechnics. So a lot of hands on. -

Applied Learning is pervasive throughout SST's 4-year curriculum. It forms the core of the teaching and learning approach in the SST and creates learning opportunities for students to draw connections between the concepts taught in the classroom and real-world applications.
At Year 1 and 2, students will take the following subjects: English Language, Mother Tongue, Mathematics, Science, Integrated Humanities and Art, Design, Media & Technology (ADMT).
At Year 3 and 4, students will take a combination of conventional and applied subjects. He may take conventional subjects such as English, Mother Tongue, Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Humanities (e.g. SS + Geog) together with one or two Applied Subjects such as Design Studies, Fundamentals of Electronics, Media Studies, Biotechnology and Environmental Science & Technology.
The following are the key distinguishing features of the SST curriculum: -
For SST. they 're just received students 100% by DSA only. About the COP, about 245 plus. And NUS High School 90% DSA and 10% post PSLE. COP for 10% students must be higher than other schools like RI and Hwa Chong. Last year COP for this 10% of 200 students : 264 unbelieveable.
