I still get a feel that the President Election is related to the GE...although PAP claims it doesn't endorse anyone. But TJS has opposition members surrounding him in the pics we see.

Couldn't the govt just find a president without going through all this craziness ?? In my opinion, Tommy Koh or Gerard Ee can be the president.
Coming up for PE requires a certain temperament, and not many are willing to forgo their current lifestyle to be in such a limelight, and holding such responsibilities. Even so, with the criteria set on eligibility, it narrows down further chances even if they are willing. We can hold all the ideals that we want of the President, but we still need to face reality that we cannot possibly find the perfect one (if have, then surely no need to fight alreadi, right?). For all the candidates that are willing to do this, I do pay my due respect.

Making a choice like this (voting) is not easy, especially if we are fixed on making a well thought-out one. So, I would imagine how tough a job for people in high positions, to put their signature down, and bear that responsibility and accountability for so many people. Leaving others to make the choice for us is easier, but we have to live with that, so the question is whether we want to live with that.

Politics is like a religion, but a religion that you cannot afford to be free of (like being a free-thinker), because whether you like it or not, you have to live with it, because you are in it. Things are ALREADY being decided for you, whether you like it or not, so why would anyone want to give up the one and only chance to make a difference, even if it is only a little bit? JMHO

I think there was a write up on the meanings behind the logo. For TT, besides his trademark specs, it's also indication of having long term view.

Specs is actually for shortsightedness.. he's telling pple that he's \"short sighted\"? cannot see far..

er...at 71, how far you want him to see? :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :siam:

Again... Feel free to agree or disagree with me. This are my views only on how I am assessing/eliminating my choices in time for Sat. This is not a bid to influence anyone's choices, if any, your views may help me to further refine my own assessment of the candidates 🙂

Zack, I feel that we are on the same boat in terms of filtering process. I am for TCB, TJS - his political agenda still seems abit too strong for my liking. Anyway, he is only in his 50's. He still can try for the next PE if he is really good. TKL - doesn't stand out at all. TT - yes doubt I will vote for him after all that has been seen and heard on tv.

My son shared that during one of his CL enrichment class. The teacher shared with them some part of TT’s CL speech. It was to educate the children not to speak such mandarin. Well… the kids have a good laugh after hearing the speech.

I think if my kids' teachers were to do that, I will have a sit down session with my kids and have a talk about the topic 'mockery'.

TT is in his 70s and so is my Dad, those of their era did not take Chinese as a 2nd language. Malay was their 2nd language unless they attend Chinese schools. At least give this fella a pat on his back for trying. Gotta start somewhere right.

Thanks, Funz, tho I find it funny, over-doing it may send out wrong message, and so need to exercise some form of self-restraint.

Points for efforts should be given, but unfortunately, they are usually only worth 1 mark.
