Not likely. Some forummers mentioned that if the school's bookshop is run by Pacific, you may order the books online. Alternatively, if you are a member of Popular, you may like to collect the booklist, and buy the books from Popular instead. You will get the member discount. You may also order online from Popular. -
Phase 3 result is out! So unexpectedly another 21 schools required balloting for foreigners! Did MOE do the sum to see if the number of vacancies are enough for foreigners? I can’t imagine what would happen a year later when some foreigners become PR here and compete in the eariler phase. I no longer believe the birth rate of Singapore to predict a school need balloting or not!
If MOE is not going to change their policy sooner or later, there would be more and more unhappy singaporeans. -

:scratchhead: By the number of working permit they give to foreigners? I thought those children would need to apply some dependent pass as well? If every year they can change the number of intake, they would have such info to get the proper estimates.

Competition is getting tougher year by year. Just like the more and more crowded MRT trains. -
Why are we allowing all these foreigners to apply into public schools? Should they not be applying at international schools? Surprise to see the number of foreigners applying at phase 3. Are these foreigners getting subsidized education at Singaporean tax payers expense?

I totally agree with u annamylee. It's really irritating when we have to compete with FTs and PRs for P1 places. :mad: -
These foreigners may not necessarily be residing in Spore. Many of them travel from JB to Spore on weekdays and travel back in the evenings. Others are mostly rich Indonesians (or other nationalities) who live with their relatives / friends in Singapore. They pay a higher rate of school fees and do not have Edusave.
MOE is not obliged to provide places for foreigners. They just take what is left.
The schools left in Phase 3 are usually not very popular with Singaporeans. Hence the competition element with regards to registration is minimal. Of course they will compete with our kids in terms of academic pursuits. But I believe such competition is healthy and inevitable. We cannot shelter our kids very much.

Putting things into perspective; Ultimately, the biggest 'competition' that we Singaporean parents are facing is still our fellow Singaporean parents. I pity MOE, there is really no way it can please us all.zeemimi:

Hi,
I would like if those foreigners children taken up the place in the public school. SO does it mean that their next sibling in line will join the phase 1 in the coming year.
