Hi Liling,
P1 and P2 children get to try a different cca each term. But the modular ccas are conducted separately and are distinct from the usual ccas for the P3s and above. The modular cca choices were given in a list beginning of the year and each class rotates between the ccas every term.
Eg for P1
Term 1 : Batik Painting, Chinese Brush Painting, Chinese Calligraphy (choose 1)
Term 2: Gymnastics
Term 3: Ethnic Dance, Creative Movement
Term 4: Touch Typing, Basic First Aid, BodyLanguage
Hope this info helps

Sorry, was taken ill last week, having caught it from kids, and did not have time to check out KSP during the time. Been busy this week catching up on work backlog too.
The P and VPs of YZPS seem to like to entertain/engage parents in terms of such dialogues, but sounds like not much different outcome likely.
In terms of the different routines, looks like the kids can adapt to a change for Wed quite well. DD could manage that somehow. But it obviously disrupts routines of the parents if they need to send/fetch the kids.
I’m actually more concerned about the different sessions, but as expected, there is no firm plan and any answer is going to be non-committal – typical.
With DD going to P3 next year and DS going P1, it will mean for 2 more yrs, both of them will have different sessions therefore requiring different arrangements for fetching to and from sch… troublesome… -
The new bus interchange at Serangoon will open on September 3.
The US$18.8 million, fully air-conditioned bus interchange is directly linked to the Circle Line and North East Line Serangoon MRT stations via nex shopping mall.
It is the fifth integrated transport hub, where bus interchanges and MRT stations are seamlessly linked with adjoining commercial developments.
The 7,000-square-meter bus interchange will cut walking time for commuters transferring between bus and MRT to between 2 and 2.5 minutes, down from 3.5 to 4.5 minutes.
It also has barrier-free accessibility features, such as lower counters, dedicated boarding points for passengers in wheelchairs and graduated kerb edges to facilitate easier boarding.
The Land Transport Authority said it will construct more integrated transport hubs in Bedok, Bukit Panjang, Clementi, Hougang Central, Joo Koon, Jurong East, Marina South and Yishun.
Existing integrated transport hubs are located in Ang Mo Kio, Boon Lay, Sengkang and Toa Payoh. -
Thanks for the info on the bus interchange opening on 3 Sep.
It will likely cause some hiccups and chaos – and bad jams – at least initially. Late last year when NEX first opened, the carpark caused nightmares for motorists. Now that buses will be plying the narrow roads on Serangoon Ave 2, it will likely cause jams. Must avoid the road for a while from 3 Sep.
It will also mean that during peak hours that coincide with school report and dismissal time, that traffic could be at gridlock, with temper rising. Parents bringing the students crossing the road there will have to be more patient, to avoid accidents.
It will be good for the upper pri students and staff of the sch who takes bus though, given the added convenience and comfort. -
BTW, not sure how many parents have kids already in YZPS now. The black sch shoes this year are crappy, and broke only 3 mth after use. The sch told parents through the regular letters that the book shop will bring in stock to exchange for the broken ones, but the book shop apparently was quite reluctant to do so when the stock finally arrived a month ago.
We managed to get a pair changed for DD, and sch was unwilling to change a bigger size one… Think might leave for DS if it’s too tight for DD…
Anyone still has the old broken shoes should still try to get them changed. -
With the school holiday around the corner, what activities have you planned?
I will be bringing my kids to Beijing for a week or so. It will be free and easy and we still have not decided on the spots to visit. They are quite familiar with the city being lived there for quite a long while. We will probably bring them back to re-visit those places they may have forgotten now. -

Got my girl a pair of black school shoe from Bata last year when the book shop did not have her size. Bata's shoes are pretty good, it can last till now. Plan to get a new pair from the book shop after this Sept holiday. Are the new shoes better than before?BTW, not sure how many parents have kids already in YZPS now. We got her a pair at Bata too, after the school's one gave way in Mar/Apr. Not sure about the new one yet, as DD hasn't worn it yet. Her legs grow quickly and while we had preferred to change to one size bigger given that there has been a 4-mth wait, the bookshop was adamant that they will only exchange size for size (obviously hoping that the students will outgrow the size and will have to buy another pair even if the shoes has not broken yet...).

What we plan to do is to let DS wears them when he goes to P1 next year... So will only know whether it will last come next year

My girl is in P1 at YZPS this year and she’s adjusting really well to the school.
I do have just one worry, and that is the purchase and distribution of the Student’s Diary at the beginning of the year. I had to queue up at the bookstore to buy it for her earlier this year one Wednesday afternoon. I was almost close to the end of the long line of queue at the end of an hour’s queue, when the older children were dismissed at 1pm. All hell was let loose at that point in time, and the bookstore was literally swarmed with kids. They shouted, squeezed and jostled their way through to buy the Student’s Diary. The situation was hardly civilized.
My older boy who is completing P6 in another school which has this student diary system never had this problem during these 6 years, since his school arranged to have the diary distributed to the classes directly, and the payment is collected through bulk payment via cash/cheque with other necessary items, such as subscriptions to 知识报, Little Red Dot, locker pad lock etc.
I still cringe with fear from my memory of that scene of classic chaos. I understand the school office’s concern is the possible additional workload on teachers for this task of distribution. However, I would like to request that the office would consider having the Student’s Diary distributed in a more orderly fashion in the coming years.
Thanks

The school would like to assure parents that we have since reviewed our internal process to include the Pupil’s Handbook in the Y2012 booklists for Y2011 purchase. The Pupil’s Handbook will be ready for purchase this year during the scheduled purchase dates.
Sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.
