Intend to take a trip from Hong Kong to Shenzhen. May I know what should I to take note especially crossing from HK to Shenzhen border?
Heard there are people tend to take your bag in which they appear in 1 big group. As I’m travelling woith family with small kids I’m considering should I join a local tour group or go on my own. -
hi titank,
not sure which border you are crossing. For land, there are 2 actually. I went to the OTHER one (not crowded, very pleasant). When we went back, we went to the usual one (is that called Luohu or something?) - that was UNpleasant, many many pp. Both I believe are connected to the shenzhen mtr also. -

best to leave all your bags in HK hotel and just make a free & easy trip to Shenzhen....even coming back to HK late at night is fine.Intend to take a trip from Hong Kong to Shenzhen. May I know what should I to take note especially crossing from HK to Shenzhen border?

Luohu is connected by KCR rail (Kowloon Canton Rail) and the immigration clearance is fast but huge crowd of humanity (manageable, just like woodland in peak hours), once crossed over out from HK, you are connected with Shenzhen and there is a direct overhead bridge link to the local shopping and local MRT as well....eg Shangri-la hotel is visible from the immigration building
Other border crossings like Sha Tao kok or Lok Ma Chao are by bus / coaches only (see also posting below for train access)...and if you going to Shenzhen airport directly, then also can take the ferry from HK or Tsimshatsui -
Found this via google.
To lessen the crowd using Lo Wu Control Point, a new control point, the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point 落馬洲分綫管制站 at Hong Kong side (or, Fu Tian Port Control Point 福田口岸管制站 at Shenzhen side) has been in operation since August 2007.
Lok Ma Chau Spur Line /Fu Tian Port Control Point is the second control point that has connection with railway, after Lo Wu. Passengers coming from Hong Kong can connect to the HuangGang station, the last stop on the No.4 line of Shenzhen underground railway system. The Station is situated on the ground floor of the border control building. So it is convenient for passengers.
But since the opening of the new Control Point, not as many passengers as expected are using it. This is because the area around Fu Tian Port Control Point is not as much developed as Lo Wu and there is not much choice in terms of transportation. So most of the passengers still prefer Lo Wu border crossing.
But as a traveler, if you want to go to Shenzhen from Hong Kong, and avoid the crowd, do consider Lok Ma Chau Spur Line/Fu Tian Port Control Point. It will be less crowded, and the border control building is very spacious and bright.
The easiest way to reach the Control Point from Hong Kong is take the Hong Kong MTR East Rail line to the Shueng Shui station and transfer from there to Lok Ma Chau station, just one station away.
I recall that I took the mtr/train from Hong Kong, and got off at \"Lok Ma Chau Spur Line /Fu Tian Port Control Point\". Basically, the train will also pass by Luo Hu; we just took the next stop. -

I do heard that this overhead bridge there are many of this 黄牛党 trying to take your bags especially crossing over. So now I know there are 2 crossing to China Shenzhen. :boogie: -

Usually, we prefer to have the theme park as last, something to keep DS to look forward to and to put on best behaviour throughout the trip.
