Reiner,
Sigh, I myself is under 1-2 km too. After the meet principal session, kind of "depress" because I just realized the journey to P1 registration is tougher than I thought.
HWS is my 2nd choice. When I saw my 1st choice going for ballot in 2B under 1 km, I freaked out. Immediately activated "Plan B" which is HWS. Sorry I am not saying that HWS is not good or if I do offend any parents, my sincere apology. Now, even the principal is anticipating ballot in 2B next year, I feel my "hardwork" is going down the drain. Now I can empathized Zoe Tay. Hahaha, she clocked 80 hours!!
Since the meeting with principal, I’m been doing my homework all over again. Next year might need to activate Plan C or even D!!
God! My kids’ fate are in your hand now! -
hi reiner, cowiepig,
Things seem to be getting tougher. But please do always remember that the most impt thing we can do for our kids is not get into the best schools, but rather what we can do for them at home!
Hope things turn out well for you all and I do hope to hear good news from you this time next year! -
Agreed with what hquek wrote. In addition, if there’s a need for balloting knock wood you can still request to be place on waiting list. Applicants do de-register for one reason or another. Chin up.

Matter of Fact, the intent of Phrase 2B is to recognize and reward parents whom are actively involved in community service. in other words, there is ZERO ROI if PV fails to enrol into the school. It is about giving, and gettting into the school of Choice is a PLUS.
If one has the the above mindset, he would have a lesser pain when handling the stress. Sound blunt, but this is the best mentality to view PVing issue.
On the pragmatic view, just do as much as you can to increase one’s chance in the P1 Registration process. -
Do P1 use pens? I’m preparing my shopping list for stationery. TIA.
-
My dd still using pencils at P3.

SAHM_Tan,
DS1 has 6 pencils (MUST be 2B), 1 eraser, 1 ruler, 1 sharpener in his pencil box. They were not encouraged to put scissors in. Glue was recently added in. -
singabox and hquek,
Thanks for the infor.
hquek,
Does it mean, they are not encourage to bring scissors? -
hi sahm_tan,
Can’t recall exactly, but I think they are not. in the first place, most activities (esp start of P1), will not require scissors. what if they injure themselves/others? For a start, it’s safe not to bring. or perhaps it’s staplers they are not encouraged to bring. Sorry, a bit hazy on this.
I gather that kids LURVE the silver and gold colour pencils. I bought the $3.99 stabilo promo pack that has 12 colours and silver and gold. DS was ecstatic.
For pencils, 2B is a must. anything less (eg HB), teacher will tell them to keep at home.
