          Chenonceau:
Has anyone considered that TCB MAY actually be PAP's ideal choice of President? Someone who has built prior working relationships with the government but still independent minded enough to be a good check?

Perhaps TT is deliberately underperforming to draw the fire and ire away from the one whom they really want to get in? Seriously, TT has never come across as a fool and the way he has gone about conducting his campaign seems to play up his weaknesses (can't speak Chinese) on purpose, and also play to stereotype (arrogant and impatient).

I know this thinking is a bit convoluted... but why not eh?
Seems far fetched, its not a trivial undertaking.

Yeahhh... kinda far fetched. I agree. Don't take me too seriously. I would still prefer TCB to TJS for the track record in public service... I know too little of TJS to be comfy.

and this is the fact for abt 20% of Singaporeans. They prefer to stay in their comfort zone. :siam:
but that is just my personal observation and I do understand this point :xedfingers: peace

                    Strparent,
I don't think the majority of those staying away from TJS are doing so on account on being within their comfort zone. He has shown himself to be somewhat of a divisive figure, and I fear his need to appease his supporters' agenda than the man himself, whom I'm sure is an honourable person, like all the other candidates.

Peace and good luck! I can live with any of these 4 being elected, though TJS poses for me, the most risk.

                      Hi 3Boys,

your comments noted and understood. :salute:

sorry I was not clear also - what I meant when I said ppl staying in comfort zone, was NOT directed at ppl against TJS ( I can understand the concern as he does seem like a loose cannon sometimes ). It is more to those that oppose to any form of change for comfort and stability, which does not help the poor and needy.
I apologise if it seems otherwise and implied something personal to Chenonceau's comments. πŸ™

In my view actually, TCB is a better person than TJS, but as a President I feel TCB is not as strong-willed and may buckle under intense majority pressure. And we need someone who the ruling party will not think is a pushover.

Speaking of majority and comfort zone => :offtopic: we can see during the recent GE2011 rallies, the sheer crowds that go to WP rallies compared to the PAP rallies, and the result ? 6 seats to 81 seats.
THAT is what I meant about the comfort zone voters - many do not go to rallies to listen, they are comfortable where they stand, why change ? But that is another story.
