Haiz …

sigh… the only consolation i can think of is that his wife is probably the nicest and most dignified-looking among all the candidates’ wives…
met her some years back when she was taking her grandkids to a montessori school and found her to be a very nice person… -
so may be tt can start to think about donating some of his pay to help the lost, the last and the least.
-
I cast my vote for the one I want to be prez. this time, I got to have my say. tis enough.

i am really very angry with those spoilt votes
:hi5: -

Anyway I walked past Singapore Sweep today and many were queuing to buy toto, think they were more interested in that than to go voting. :rotflmao:
Maybe those people were betting on who would be the next President, just like what we were doing here?
-
Congratulations to the new President... Now we can unite as ONE!

Sigh  , whilst I would refrain from name calling, I share your frustration. I really hope those who spoilt the votes deliberately would reflect on their privilege of participating in a democratic process.
Spoil Votes 37826 (bunch of brainless people)
The weaknesses in the electoral process for the presidency are apparent for all to see. An elected President with 35.1% of the popular vote? A sliver of a margin over the next candidate? The 3rd place candidate garnering a quarter of all votes?
The g'ment can call for unity all it wants, it would be completely illusory in this circumstance and merely magnify the sense of injustice and dis-enfranchisement.
There needs to be a run-off between the top 2 candidates, first past the post does not work and places a lot of pressure on the PEC. -

I went to bed at 1.30am after hearing the recount and TT has slight lead.... Couldn't bring myself to watch anymore. Woke up feeling sore about the marginal loss..... I would be happier if it was TCB especially after watching his stance on NMP on CNA. Ltk is clapping in the background.Agree. Woke up to hear results and saw new prez giving speech. He won by 7269 votes. every vote counts.
tcb ran a good race, but it was such a near miss.
Well we all have to move on and in a Singapore way, support whoever is nominated. Hubby consolation was he went to the same pri and sec school as TT. Which probably explains his CL standard. -
indeed very disappointed…but we need to move on. in fact i am more disappointed with those 40k of spoilt votes. they are given a chance , a right to choose and make changes, but they just cant be bother.
