Presidential Election 2011

When my 93yo MIL went to vote, 3 helpers wrote down what she told them to.
Some old folks and the handicapped have no strength to hold the pen, can't draw probably also, but they were still brought there to \"any how draw\". fren said her polling ctr was just a void deck and while standing there to wait came across one old folk on wheel having difficult to draw and stretch her arm, in the end just draw the portion nearer to her. It could hit TKL or TT or void. -

I can't answer why accountant's pay is high..
So the role of EP similar to accountant? If so, why the pay so high?
But in private sector, the well-known accountants are also very highly paid.. isn't it?
As for the how high, definitely, regardless of what role is the EP, $4mil/yr is obscene I feel..
And, if the candidates for the EP is really pursuing a \"cause\", the pay shouldn't really matter to him.. Like what TJS said, he would do it even for $1.. (Let's not get out of context by talking about whether he really mean it or watever..) -
Some void their vote to tell the g that we do not need a president after all. They can channel the president pay to support some worthwhile cause.
Voiding a vote is not equal to brainless … !!! -

Haiyah - but that one is not a 4-corned fight, mah.
In the first presidential election of 1993, Ong Teng Cheong got 59% while Chua Kim Yeow got 41% of the votes. -

...Whoever wins is not going to change anything concrete under d current Constitution.caroline3sg:
I have slight difference in analysis on the 60%-40% splitting into 4 candidates.
The 40% hard core pro opp would vote for TJS (probably 3/4 of votes).
Substantial chunk of 60% (living in the west, where quality of opp candidates for GE are not comparable to WP) voted opp to bring down PAP %. This group would vote TJS.
.....
However, IMV, if someone other than TT wins, it’s a moral victory to strengthen d msg of GE2011 n keep d ruling party on its toes.
Reality showed TCB had strong support from West. This indicates large percentage who voted for PAP in GE voted for TCB instead of TT.
The 0.03% win is itself a strong message. This is a message the ruling party and President Tan are intelligent enough to note.
Let's :xedfingers: and see what happens in the next few years. Don't lose hope ! This year's GE and PE brought greater political awareness for majority of Singaporeans. This year is the turning point.
Thanks to KSP forum platform for the interesting discussions too. We all made well-thought-through votes. Be proud of ourselves and let's all hope for the best for our country. -
The result is out. How do you feel about the new President?
-
 spoilt votes
:stupid: if only TKL's votes cld go to someone else..then history may change...
In any case, just MHO, no offense to anyone... -
Singaporeans are paying an ‘out of the world’ price for stability.

It is like saying 'I don't want to play the game', yet the game goes on, with our without you, and the winner will, one way or another, have an impact in your life JMHO.Some void their vote to tell the g that we do not need a president after all. They can channel the president pay to support some worthwhile cause.

Maybe we should think about the amount of price we are willing to pay for stability - any price, irregardless of the outcome? billions? millions? or the less the better (if can be done)?
