so angry now  asked my maid to hand-wash my camisole and it was torn....how could it be torn (many small little holes)?

Last night, i told her to hand-wash and spin in a fabric net before putting into the machine...This morning she told me apologetically that it was torn..asked her at which stage was it torn? was it while she was hand-washing, wringgling it to dry, before putting in or after taking out of the machine?

All her answers were \"I don't know\". i said when did she realise that it was torn when she washing it? she gestured to me her rubbing the fabric together (goodness!) cannot imagine how she hand-wash something WITHOUT LOOKING AT IT! i mean when you open out the fabric to rub other parts, you could have notice it was torn right?...

if you've read my previous posts, you will know all the headaches she given me....finally a bit settle down, now this happen...her pay is not even enough to cover my loss, was still thinking of giving her an ang pow (now fat hope!)...the most tricky part is, i dunno if she did it on purpose to vent anger on me.........

        Peace Charlie:
Hari Raya is just round the corner. do employer gave their indo maid little ang pow? Was wondering am i spoiling the market? Cos my new maid joined me less than a month was wondering shd i or not.... furthermore with less than a month she's showing some slacking in her duties.always full of excuses when I told her to follow my rules....

Hi peace Charlie, in your case, I probably will keep quiet and act blur. Only one month and her work is like that. Give her one year and my guess is she'll deteriorate further.

But if you want to keep her happy, can give token like $10 bucks, and let her know that she could have more if her work is good.

Most imptly, give what you feel happy. Don't :stupid: after you give, nor feel guilty.she's here to work for a salary, not collect angbow.

          Hi admummy,

Usually I’ll hand wash stuff stuff I don’t want spoilt myself. It’s more inconvenient, but cost effective. My first maid could wash, dry and fold my clothes, with one big big hole quietly. I did ask if she work with her eyes closed. What to do? These kind of things can’t be proven if it was negligence or malice.

One thing that I finally did was have a notebook that list out her serious errors, and make her countersign. It won’t be of use in court of law, but I find that she usually don’t repeat after it’s written down.

hi peapot, mine was from Philippines. But her English really couldn't make it, and I had to speak very s..l...o...w...l..y and use a lot of hand gestures.

hi anna and hquek, mine was a fresh maid.

Sigh. Anyway, she is now my ex-maid because she told me this morning that she didn't want to work anymore. Reason? Because her hands are aching!!! She's been having these aches since she started working for me, so I think she really can't make it. I was so worried for her and sent her to the doctor, but i think the point she wanted to make is that she got her aches working for me.

It's not a matter of training. I actually got up at the same time as her most days, and I supervise her as much as I can. But she didn't like to be supervised, and she knew what I was talking about because if she felt like it, she would do things properly.

Just on saturday, she banged my sofa on the floor when I asked her to change the cover. It was so loud that I could hear it from the bedroom with the door closed. She thought that I wouldn't hear it cos I was in the bathroom.

Damn fed up. If don't want to work, say so earlier. Why have to go to the extent of ruining/burning/breaking/banging my stuff, and making me spend so much on the doc for her? :frustrated: :stompfeet:

Agent side, didn't ask me what was wrong, and wanted to include today in the calculations for the pro-rated loan. The thing is, if the maid is the one who didn't want to work for me, and if she didn't do anything, should I still pay for the one day? Cos I called the agent as soon as the maid told me she didn't want to work, and even sent the maid to the agent's place.

And I only got the maid on the 17th, but the agent said that it's a common practice to charge one day before the actual date of employment, which is the 16th. Is that true?

And what do I do with the work permit? I gave it back to the agent. Am I supposed to inform MOM or what?

Now I've got a phobia of hiring maids. :faint: :faint: When I was checking the maid's stuff, I realised that she didn't just lie about her experience. She actually had a global sim card, but she lied that she didn't have one when we asked her. So we actually got her 2! And I realised that she actually bought more clothes for going out, than clothes for working. All she brought were tights, tights, and more tights. No wonder she kept wearing the same few clothes, even after I bought her some more. This girl is here to party, and not work!

Am thinking that I may just have to rely on part-time help, and maybe iroomba and scooba when I go back to work.

That’s precisely the problem. Demand more than supply. So I closed one eye to my maid’s nonsense.

My maid has also damaged my blouse before. She kneel down and beg for forgiveness. Sometimes it depends on the overall work performance. If her overall work performance is acceptable to you then you may wish to just close one eye but nothing is up to standard then you may wish to change one.

How’s the supply now? Anyone knows? I guess all the maids are still going Taiwan and Hong Kong.
