Hmmmm, think during P1 orientation, I must ask this question to clarify their stand.

When the kids are reading Chinese storybooks, they will encounter such situation too, so must understand what’s the school / MOE stand on this…

'Ji Chen Che' is used in Taiwan.
'De Shi' used here...but doubt my kids will understand what that is.
            I understand the following terms:
            脚踏车
            冷气机
            汤匙

As for 空调, I was :scratchhead: what that meant until my uncle's China-born wife told me it meant 'air con'.

if u go to china & need to tell them ur air con isnt working... u cannot say 冷气... they will not understand... u must say 空调 instead...

and also in china, cannot call the waitress 小姐... they will get offended cos this words referring to pros ( 鸡 )... u must identify them as 小妹 or 大姐..

              :offtopic:

Don't worry too much now. We'll learn along with our kids as time gets by. 😄
