Hmmmm, think during P1 orientation, I must ask this question to clarify their stand.
When the kids are reading Chinese storybooks, they will encounter such situation too, so must understand what’s the school / MOE stand on this… -

'Ji Chen Che' is used in Taiwan.
'De Shi' used here...but doubt my kids will understand what that is.
I understand the following terms:
脚踏车
冷气机
汤匙
As for 空调, I was :scratchhead: what that meant until my uncle's China-born wife told me it meant 'air con'. -
if u go to china & need to tell them ur air con isnt working... u cannot say 冷气... they will not understand... u must say 空调 instead...
and also in china, cannot call the waitress 小姐... they will get offended cos this words referring to pros ( 鸡 )... u must identify them as 小妹 or 大姐..
