          Ladies, it's 橡皮 or 橡皮擦.

          correction tape - 修正带
liquid paper - 修正液 or 涂改液
          sharpener - 卷笔刀 or 铅笔刨

Except for correction tape and liquid paper (which they don't use), preschoolers should encounter the words either in schools or enrichment classes. These are everyday common usage words. In Julia Gabriel, kids are introduced 空调,勺子 in N2. The primary school syllabus doesn't dwell on these.

Besides schools and enrichment classes, these vocabulary words can also be found in reference books/readers/storybooks like https://www.popular.com.sg/jsp/product/product_detail.jsp?vca001=214&vpd001=81346 or My First Picture Dictionary by Learners. My First Picture Dictionary also includes 量词介绍 such as 一部警车,一辆警车 etc.

          WCW,
If you are intending to get Creative tablet for writing, you might want to try the various Chinese writing software on ipad/iphone. Writer and 写汉字 are pretty good.

DS in K2 nw... they started HYPY since beginning of term 3... 😄

and lucky he's nt mixed up between HYPY & english phonics.. 😂
Let me look into my crystal ball. Ah, I forsee your DS is gonna have a breezy first semester in P1 next year. According to my son's P1 teacher, if a kid takes to HYPY well, there will be no headache in learning HYPY. 😄

              Hi Mummies,

I learnt what sharpener is called in mandarin when son went to P1...Juan bi dao...correct right ? But I always forget...as I will say 'sharpener' and eraser  Kids' teachers always tell us to speak more mandarin but just not used to it...after 1-2 sentences, it's back to English again.

These common words keep repeating themselves. My son just highlighted to me that he came across 卷笔刀 again in Chinese Textbook 2A. I took a look and indeed, 铅笔,尺,卷笔刀,橡皮 are mentioned again. Think we learnt some of these terms when my kids was in N2/K1 Berries / readers.

Can’t agree more with you, Janet.

                  Hi chamonix,
My son was shocked I asked him what juan4 bi3 dao1 is...told him I really don't know. The characters in glossary section behind will repeat at P2...and those characters in shi4 ren4 zi4 at P1 will become shi4 xie3 zi4 in P2...that means 'must know'.

                    高兴地笑哈哈
                    Or
                    高兴得笑哈哈
                    Or both correct?
                    The 得 is pronounce as 地 ?
                    I believe is option 1.

                      The second is right.

I think the first should be right too. We can say, 生气地说。
