No, it's EESIS. You'll see it when your son gets his PSLE results slip, it'll be printed clearly there: EESIS. It's also stated on the MOE website:

The EESIS is also awarded to P6 GEP pupils who are Singapore Citizens and who

      1. meet the P6 GEP promotion criteria, and
      2. are enrolled in the IP in an Independent School at S1.

      I see.
Does that mean that the GEP kids who DSA thru the GE domain will need to be at the top 3% of PSLE or their parents will need to pay the full fees in an independent IP school ?

No need. If you retain your GEP status, you're awarded EESIS, regardless of whether you're top 3% or not.

Nope. Think most will get it as long as they r in independent schools, donch even need to be IP.

You're referring to EESIS, which is awarded to GEP students who are promoted to secondary GEP status. If a student fails SS and is not able to maintain his GEP status, then he will not be given EESIS under GEP. BUT if his T-score is within the top 3% of PSLE scorers, he will still be given EESIS, as will all mainstreamers who score within the top 3% of all PSLE students.

But I would imagine that someone who is able to score within the top 3% of the PSLE population should be able to maintain his GEP status.

From what I understand during the GE department talk, ask long as the student manage to get a place in the SBGE programme of a recognised school on the MOE list (By DSA or other ways), the kid will get the $200 GE grant.
It's different form EESIS so don't have to be top 3% of PSLE.

http://www.moe.gov.sg/initiatives/edusave/funds-grants-awards/eesis/[/quote]I always want to verify the criteria of SS baseline as 70% for GE promotion criteria but to no avail. Till now it is still like hear say only. Why didn't they spell it in MOE website.

The kid has to be in an SBGE programme, not just an SBGE school. So for eg if a GEP girl chooses to go to MGS but does not want to be in Sophia Blackmore, she will NOT be given EESIS.

I suspect they (MOE) are just very lax on the requirement when it comes to GEP....so they will continue to pamper them as long as they can maintain certain std in Ind schools. If they put a figure there, then they cannot suk-suka give out the $$$.

Yes. I personally am aware of a few. So there must be more. Not just MGS.

                    Paddy Field:

That could be ACSI. During the briefing, the P & VP asked parents to revert by 2 Sep if their DS are for sure not taking up the offer in ACSI so they can inform those on WL.
Thanks Paddy Field. That should be it. A good gesture from the school.

                      This is from MOE website
                      http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/programmes/gifted-education-programme/faq/general/

                      GEP Status in Secondary Levels
What happens after the primary GEP?

After Primary 6, retention of the GEP status and promotion to the next level of gifted education is based on:

performance in the GEP from Primary 4 to 6, including a pass in Social Studies
attitude towards work and the enrichment programme
                      performance at the PSLE

DHS seems to be the one that makes life easiest for GEP students during DSA among all schools.

How is their SBGE like ?
that's what i have been trying to say......... 😉 😂
there are 2 classes for Sbge.
