Dear tianzhu,

Yes, this answer is the same as atutor.
      Thank-you.
      Hi

You need to draw two lines in mirror images to those in the question.

The answer is 5*2.8 which is 14.

If you need the slide, please let me know.

      Best wishes

Where to draw that 2 lines? Now is too late, perhaps tomorrow if you are free, please show us the working.
        Thanking you in advance.
Can help me solve Q14b:

          http://i52.tinypic.com/wvskmd.jpg\">

Following the labeling in your diagram

          Area of Quadrant = a+b+c+d

          Shaded Area = (a+b+c+d) + c + d + (b+d) + (a+d)
          = 2a+2b+2c+4d

          Unshaded Area = b + (b+c) + a + (a+c)
          =2a+2b+2c

          Shaded - Unshaded = 4d = 2.5x1.4x4 = 14

I understand area of quadrant but unsure how do you get Shaded Area and Unshaded Area.
Hi

          hope this helps..

            Hi pls help

Mr Tan drove from city X to city Y.At the same time,Mr Koh drove from city Y to city X.They passed each other 64 km away from city Y and continued their journeys. They made a u-turn upon reaching their destinations so that they could return to their own cities. They passed each other again 52 km away from city X… Find the distance between the two places when they met each other.

This question has been posted much earlier but can’t seem to find the solution…

                  Hi vanilla cake,

Just hope to check with you, do you have the roysth 2011 prelim answer sheet? Thanks

                  Cheers,
                  Lenny

I got the 2011 P6 Prelim Maths paper for Rosyth School but no answers were given. I had requested vlim (her son is in Rosyth School's GEP) for her http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=157&p=581820#p581820 to provide the answers. If this is not possible, could I type the answers worked out by my younger sister for you to verify them? Just to counter check and no need any worked solutions. TIA for your attention in this request.

PS: I had browsed through this Maths paper from Rosyth School and found out that it was not an easy Maths paper.
hi vanilla cake , has pm you.
Another question:

                      7 [] (7 [] 7) [] 7 = 5.

Fill in the [] with the 4 operators : +, -, *, / and each can be used more than once.

                      Thank-you.

                        Hi

A quick one, so sorry no time to draw today.

                        I'll provide some pointers.

Radius of quarter circle (AD) ----- 12

Diameter of small semi circle (AD or BC) ------ 12

Length AB of rectangle (AB) -------- 28

                        Perimeter of shaded area ------ (3.14*12) + 16 + 16 ------ 69.68

                        Area of shaded part ------ (28*12) – (3.14*12)/2 ------- 336 – 226.08 ------109.92

                        Best wishes
