I question the intention of the ‘parents’ who brought this matter up to the press. If funds/donations/sponsorship were collected in an upfront manner (meaning it was clearly stated that the money/gifts would be used for Teachers’ Day), then the parents should not have anything to complain about. If the money/donations were used or misused inappropriately, then it’s a different story. What’s the purpose behind highlighting the matter to the press when unhappiness could have been settled in school.

i got letters from psg for support and donation to celebrate teachers’ day. what the $$$ is intended for, what type of celebration and gifts were spelt out clearly in the letters. donation of any kind is absolutely up to the parents.

there were some parents who felt forced to donate because the letters from psg required parent to write the name and class of the child at the back of the check (no cash) and likewise for gift donations. so they were afraid if the list of those who donated would be leaked to teachers and if their names were not on it , their kids might be blacklisted. they dont like the idea of giving $$$ but felt forced to do so, thus unhappy.

some parents i know have more than 2 kids in the same school and they just couldnt afford to pay for teachers’ day celebration, charity walks or fun fare coupon sales and the various reqeust from school and psg groups. so far none of their kids have encountered nasty comments from teachers.

find the whole complaint incident suspicious…school is closed on that day except for teachers who r invited to lunch. So who was there to take the picture and get to see what type of door gifts were given. RPA members? Parents who cooked? Cleaners who have to clean up? It was a complaint letter to a chinese press…hmmm…ds has some conspiracy theory…

Will ask DS what teachers have to say on Mon.

don't think teachers will ever know because the money matters are not handled by teachers

yeah, it would be good if names are not leaked. always wonder why need to state name and class of pupil for donations. my friends and i always have a headache putting the sum on the cheque (amt not qualified for tax rebate if any). giving angpows during cny and weddings are so much easier

but the psg have indeed done a good job in organising some interesting workshops for parents. in fact, they deserve some form of appreciation too.
