Did you mean $110 for 4 one hour lessons instead? Some of the top teachers in Singapore charge lesser than that for diploma lessons.chamonix:
May I say that I am pleasantly shocked with your charges? One young teacher with grade 8 qualification and 3 years of 'teaching experience' quoted me $110 or so per hr for beginners. With your qualifications, I would expect your charges to be higher than hers.
PS: I didn't engage her as her teaching wasn't impressive. -

My kids’ piano teacher increased 45% of her fees per month from foundation to grade 1 (she said all her new students will be based on new rates even for foundation). Both my kids were learning from her…the burden i had now. She said it will increase further for Grade 2.
I find that the increase is too much and thinking of changing another piano teacher. As i do not know music at all, i not sure how good she is…
What is the market rate now for Grade 1 45 mins at student’s place? -
Through recommendation, I just confirm with a pte teacher to come to my place to teach my DD2 who has zero knowledge about piano
Charge: $130 for 4 lessons and each lesson is 45 minutes. Fee excluding material which she sms said is $18. -
When i was learning piano, my teacher told me that generally fees will play a part to determine the teacher’s effort. I used to think does that means if i am paying lesser i get lesser attention? But now i understand that when a parent is paying a higher fee than market rate, the teacher will unknowingly be stressed and liable to make sure the fees paid are accountable.
Ultimately, i would say as long as the you think the what you paid for is worth it then its fine =]. My piano fees were expensive, but i felt it was worth it. -

Can work both ways also. Cheaper fee could also mean the parents have lower expectation of the teachers. So less stress in teaching
