All About Full-Time Maids

Provided the employer "rent" a room for her or budget hotel every weekend. My agent told me that Hong Kong also the same, some employers will not provide accommodation as their house relatively small, so the maid got to rent a room outside (some with their own expenses). That’s why they are lots of maids still preferred to come over Singapore to work.
Some update about my 3 weeks new maid: after a feedback and review talk, my maid got some improvement and really a good sign (although still not up to my expectation yet). When i saw the dishes she prepared, i really think of give up but at the end i still try it, surprisingly the taste was good only the outlook was so lousy. This is my maid lor, she will never score high marks but just pass. -
Anna, good to know that your maid shows improvement after the review. I constantly have review sessions with my maid when she first started her job. Hope your maid will continue to improve as time goes by. Jia you!

jitoh, the number of transfers only apply to employers and not maids. Maids just get slapped with 1 or 2 more months of loan. AND only certain agency slapped these maids with extra loans not all Agencies. The objective is to ensure that the maid will try to improve and not keep going back to the agency. When the maid gets transferred too many times, the agency will also finds it hard to find new employer for her.

The part on rental is quite true. I know of a expat family who rents a room for the maid to sleep outside. I think in HongKong, the maid’s rental room is also paid for by the employer. Actually philip maids like such arrangement.

This kind of excuses sounds very familiar. But if this is once or twice and if she is a good maid, i will close one eye.
I once had this girl, who got back later and later each Sunday (that's why the excuse sounds familiar). She had to get back by 8pm (all my maids). Sometimes i can understand, so i close i eye if they arrive home 8.30pm. Seeing that i didnt say anything when she arrived 8.30pm, she got back at 9pm, then 9.30, then later and later. Each time i remind her that she cannot get back later than 8pm. One night, i still didnt see her at 11.30pm, call her no answer, at about 12 midnight, she came home drunk. That was the last straw. I sack her the next day. I told her i cannot accept this.
She was ok to transfer and understand that i was mad. Guess what? She found a better job :stupid: The new employer gave her 10% increment from last pay, all Sundays and PH off, work 8 am to 5pm and she can sleep over at her friends house. (Ang Mo employer) :slapshead: -

Is this type of arrangementa against any MOM rules? I know maids are supposed to be working at the address listed in her WP card? What about where they stay? Like that, they can do \"other\" type of work after the \"official\" working hours? -
Don’t know whether it’s legal. If nobody whistleblow, the gov’t won’t take any actions.

Even if we inform MOM, it doesn't guarantee that they will take action either!
I had shared previously about the rogue employment agency, which already had 9 demerit points... but registered my ex helper under a different agency name for the WP without informing me... Had emailed to MOM querying on this, and they only came back once to ask me if i had any papers stating the different agency name... after i had responded.... ZERO news from MOM!
