The benefit of having a swimming pool near their school makes the students happy, not the fact of having a swimming pool. The fact is only a fact. Every fact got its good aspect and bad aspect. Students must be think of the good aspect so they are happy about the news. Is it right? It is what one of my dd’s classmates explanation. Dizzy… Students are not only required to listen but also have to think … actually, it is not easy. Right?

Hi I'm pretty much of a newbie here... this is literally my first time...so I hope you would excuse me for any awkwardness. My parents aren't really kiasu anymore because they know my siblings and I are motivated enough to study on our own....so the reality is that I am really the 'Kiasu' family member....


However, as I grow up, I find myself slacking and having less mood to study...
It is esp. a very bad time to be so as Psle is less than a month away for me.....

Some subj. I have dropped this yr while one has climbed up a lot....I'll show you what I mean...

raw score: 264 ( I am exempted from MT)

english- 73.5 ( I dropped to a B)
mathematics- 92 ( I guess it was tougher)

As you can see, I dropped in my maths and english. I improved in my science by 0.5 marks...which isn't that great. I have to admit that I did not prepare well for these exams. However, I find myself struggling no matter what in my english (please help me)

This I admit, I PREPARED VERY BADLY. I was in somewhat in a stage of denial and I somehow could not bear facing books and assessment papers. I am really worried but I find myself not being able to help it. I want to be accepted into NUSHS or NJC and my teacher says I am very capable of it from seeing my daily work...but at this rate, I might be being 'unrealistic'. PSLE is only a few weeks away and I am very worried. Now that I am 'pressured' I am able to sit down and study but find myself procrastinating and being distracted most of the time. I am not trying to brag, but what really upsets me is that I used to be able to score A* for every subj. even, english- which I find extremely difficult to do as I grow older. If anybody has solutions, PLEASE REPLY A.S.A.P.
I HOPE ONE OF YOU CAN SUGGEST TO ME ANY SOLUTIONS YOU HAVE IN MIND THAT MIGHT WORK BECAUSE I AM VERY DESPERATE. thanks

It looks like you are suffering from an anxiety pang. The way I look at it - you are fully equiped for the big exam. You think you are doing badly for english and please allow aunty to be harsh here - you will NOT be able to conjure anything magical about it with the short frame now.

Please know for a fact that generally, the prelims are set at higher standard and marked more strigently than for the actual PSLE. I don't know good or not but its certainly not effective in giving a child the last weapon he/she needs to face Goliath - the courage and confidence.

I tend to believe your teacher's words - you have what it takes to go into the sch you want. Hang on to those words and then relax. Dont let your years of labour go down the drain. The only thing you probably need to do is review the eng paper and see what was your killer weakness. Is it a matter of sentence structure, grammar, vocab, lack of understanding od comprehension? And if you can - redo the paper on your own, do more of the same type from other school papers.

You are on the verge of killing Goliath or get killed your self and the final battle is your mental state and confidence. Fo forth, bravely dear. Its only your first big hurdle. You WILL cross it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate it. My weakness usually changes from time to time...but I find the OE Comprehension and the Comprehension Cloze the most challenging most of the time. I am also not that strong in my Composition (Paper 1) as I tend to only be able to write a \"great\" compo. when I am given a lot of time (because I'd write a lot for just one scene); which obviously doesn't occur in exams. I am hence not able to deliver a \"full quality\" compo as I can only afford to write short ones. My teacher says I have this 'fixed way' of writing and should try to learn and explore other ways that would likely get me a high mark even if it is only 200+ words. Nevertheless,

do you know if the answer for question 3[route question] is (3) or (2). I put (2) as they said that Gopal was not in the tah tarik stall. Any other reasons

There should be no other reasons, because the only difference between option 3 and 2 is the teh tarik stall, and he decided not to get a closer look as it was too crowded.

Yes, the answer is 2. Because Gopal went from the Chinese mask place to the satay stall to the curry stall and he could see the man demonstrating the teh tarik but he did not go there as it was too crowded. So he went to the chapteh place where he met Sarah...something like that. :boogie:
