Need guide on these questions.

Ahmad spent $12.80 more than Ryan and 4 times as much money as Vincent. The 3 boys spent $118.60 altogether. How much money did Vincent spend?
My answer
12.80 x 1/4 =3.20
118.6-3.2-12.8= 102.6
102.6/ 9 =11.4
11.4 + 3.2= $14.60. Is it correct?

2. the number of apples at a store was 80% more than the number of oranges. After 60% of the oranges were sold, there were 42 more apples than oranges. Findthe total number of apples and oranges at first.

Hi

Q1 - yes.. you may want to add $12.80 to the total ie 12.80 +118.60 = 131.40 and this will be equal to 9u, 1u = $14.60 = Vincent's money.

Q2. Apples : Oranges = 180 : 100 = 9u : 5u, total 14u
after 60% oranges sold, oranges left = 0.4 x 5u = 2u
so 9u-2u = 42, 7u=42, 1u =6

Total number of fruits at first : 14u = 84, 54 apples & 30 oranges.

cheers.

oic. thanks
u r welcome

cheers.

Hi, I need help for the following questions.

1) At first, Ahmad has 3 times as many stickers as Tricia. Then, each of them bought an equal number of stickers. In the end, Tricia had 72 stickers and Ahmad had twice as many stickers as Tricia. Find the number of stickers Ahmad had at first.

2) Mother has similar bags of three different colours: red, blue and green. 1 red bag and 2 blue bags weigh 13kg.
2 green bags and 2 blue bags weigh 22kg.
3 red bags and 2 green bags weigh 21kg.
(a) Find the total mass of 1 red bag, 1 blue bag and 1 green bag.
(b) Find the average mass of 1 red bag, 1 blue bag and 1 green bag.
Express your answer in kilograms.

3) Danny had $156 more than Esther. After Danny had spent 1/6 of his money and Esther spent 1/2 of her money, Danny had $245 more than Esther. How much money did Danny have at first?

Thanks!
Hi

some tips to solve ..
Q1 - At first, the difference in number of stickers is 2u. In the end, the difference in the number of stickers remain the same.

Q2. Add 3 given statements to get 4 red + 4 blue + 4 green = 13 + 22 + 21 = 56. I think you can continue from here.

Q3. This model will help ....

Hi

in the end, we have 5u + 130 = 3u + 245
2u = 245 - 130 = 115

Danny had 6u + 156 at first = 3 x 115 +156 = 501

cheers.

Mr Lee bought some shirts for $425. if He was given a discount of 15%, he would be able to buy 5 more shirts for the same amount of money. What is the original price of shirt?

Hope this helps.

The value of 15% discount is :

$425 x 15 / 100 = $63.75

With this money, Mr Lee able to buy 5 more shirts.

5 shirts = $63.75
1 shirt = $12.75

As this $12.75 is the price of a shirt after 15% discount.

85% -> $12.75
100% - > $12.75 x 100/85 = $15

The original price of shirt is $15

p/s: think my my answer is incorrect.

.

A florist sold twice as many roses as tulips and collected $400 in total. She collected $80 more on the tulips than the roses. Given that a tulip costs $2 more than a rose, find the cost of a rose.
