Hi,
Also need to ask for the school textbooks for P1, can we get from Popular? i understand Popular is cheaper and somemore with additional 5% discount if have membership card. Can mummies whose kids in Nan chiau advise?
For the Pict Dictionary, i understand from Timtum that it is not needed. do you mean we need to ask the teachers if needed, then we buy? -

The price between Popular and the vendor (who packs the books nicely in a box according to NCPS book list) is really marginal so I decided to just buy from the vendor on the Orientation Day. It's up to you if you want the hassle of buying yourself in Popular.Hi,

For the Pict Dict, which cost more than $20 if I remembered correctly, I gathered from friends and in this forum that it'll not be used. Indeed, it's not used. In fact, the chinese mini character cards (2 sets) are also not used till now. Really a waste of money. -

oh i heard very cheap compared to buying from the school vendor. Since marginal might as well buy from school vendor. i dun have car only 2 \"kar\" (legs) to carry that heavy load
For the Pict Dict, more than $20 not cheap and i am asking cos i have english and chinese dictionary at home for kids so i dun feel like buying. Maybe i will ask my fren if she bought too.
Now counting down to another 2 months whereby i will call the school vendor when they will be opening their stores during school holiday so that i can go and buy the school uniforms first before orientation day -
I agreed w timtim.
Had explored Popular for P2 last nov (don’t know y, but it didn’t hv NCPS booklist then so I would hv to fax it to them) so i decided against it bcos the savings (Maybank credit card extra 5% off) will b wiped out by delivery fee or carpark charges (if self-collect), & i will still need to buy specific items (e.g. English worksheets already 1/3 of total cost) from school separately.
Re Pict Dict - as long as u hv a dictionary at home will do, in case teacher want them to look up unknown words & do up the "Vocab Cards" (empty small coloured cards bounded w a ring, included in booklist-- think $1 for 100pcs).
Re Chinese Character cards - P1 : I bot that & 2 card holders + slot them into individual plastic sleeves but never use. So P2 didn’t buy. Told DS to buy only when teacher tells them to bring. Already middle of 2B text le, think most likely no need again. hehehee…:b -
Hi All, anyone here been to PV volunteer before? What are the common questions they’ll asked? Thanks, JC

want to check with the mummies here. i saw from Nan chiau website that they have quite a number of cca under alumni. I would like very much for my girl to join the band with volin or the guzheng cca. i read somewhere that you need to join one alumni cca first before you can join the ccas i mention earlier. I checked it seems like must join wushu first then can join the rest. is it true?

Only those listed in Section B stated such preference:

so my girl must take up the wushu before she is eligible to select those listed in Section B. Is there other alumni cca other than wushu before she can select those in Section B? I am not very keen for her to join the school wushu as she is currently learning wushu in the cc and the wushu school in nan chiau is different from the wushu school in the cclarkspur:

However, it is preferred that she had been taken up Guzheng w the Alumni BEFORE taking it up as school's CCA when she is P3.
Likewise for violin.
Concert Band in Section A does not hv such preference.
Section C's Alumni Wushu is just a CCA recognised by school but offered thru the Alumni. -

I am not sure what you mean by take up Guzheng with the Alumni. How can she take up Guzheng with Alumni if P1 student cannot select CCA yet? or does it mean she has to take up Guzheng outside as in cc as she has has now for wushu?
