No mean / standard deviation to gauge difficulty of paper, A* can be a high A* or a low A*.......how to calculate T-score with so many unknown :scratchhead: :slapshead:

What happens to those who are exempted from MT? Is there anyway to estimate the T-score?

hi, how if my son get the following scores for all his subjects result, what is the T-score ? Can someone please help me as I’m very confuse on this. Thanks

                English - 74.2 Mean : 65.7 Max :92.1 Std dev 14.5
                Chinese - 72.0 Mean : 71.4 Max : 98.9 Std dev 17.8
                Mathematics - 64.5 Mean : 64.5 Max : 98.5 Std dev 17.7
                Science - 73.5 Mean : 67.2 Max : 97.0 Std dev 16.0

If I use the formula : 50-10 * (score-Mean)/StdDev, my calculation is as follow :
                English = 50-10 * (74.2-65.7)/14.5 = 23.45

is this the way to calculate ?? If not, how do I calculate the T-score, please help.

                Thanks

My friend was asking if all subjects scored between 50-60/100 with a possible fail subject, any chance of getting into Express? I told her it depends on the total aggregate score and the school’s cut off points for the streams, am I right? Please correct me if I am wrong.

My friend also wishes to know where can she find the guide on the points for the streams i.e., how many points to Express, NA and NT.

                  Thank you.

COP for Express is 200 or 188, depending on the school. I don't know what the COP for NA and NT is.

Your formula is wrong. It is 50+10*(score - mean)/ StdDev.

                      English: 55.86
                      Chinese: 50.34
                      Maths: 50
                      Science: 53.94
                      Total T-score: 210.14

Hope this helps. Note this is just indicative for your sch as PSLE is based on national level so the spread might be a little different.

Sorry for the frankness, but I would venture to say it is very risky. You have to explain to your fren and the kid how T-score is computed, and it is not based on a passing mark of 50!

Express COP of 200 is based on a T-score of 50 per subject. If you work that out, it means every subject you are performing at the mean of the cohort, then you can get the total T-score of 200. In the case of an easy paper, the mean of the cohort may be higher than 60. If you are performing at 50-60, you are below the 50 mark.

I thought (please correct me if I am wrong) if you are between 190-200, you are allowed to choose between NA and Express.
