      24hr-mum:
i M contemplating to teach myslf cos tuition centres or even pte tutor (unlike can find realy gd ones but it wid b ex too) may not address their specific weaknesses.

I agree with u parents only address the their specific weakness and teach them.
I also in the same boat send to tution or not.My DH only asked me to send.cos he think son never study with me.If send then he will study. But the problem is they attend tuition for 1 and a half hours a week.If we send a tution also we need to give papers and mark.Nowardays I strict him do one subject a day.but for each subject need two days.cos we do Maths he can do Section A and B in a day and do the section C in another day. Languages composition need to do another day.
I sent my son for kumon for one year, but his grade go down. Then I stopped and I taught and found his weakness and his grade go up.Now his grade again go down cos lack practise. After CA2 I just strict him to follow the time table.Still I feel not enough practise for Maths.one paper for one week is enough for P3?

my girl now has tuition for all subjects, as in for languages its just the compo writing, not the enrichment part. she doesnt hv much time to do exam papers. she still do, but choose n whine. for eng, no problem. she do super fast. for math, super slow. but i find while the tuition improves her model drawing, there are some weakness in her thinkg whc not addressed by group tuition. pte tutor will be too ex, close to 200 a mth.

no it doesn't help.I send my son cos his calculation so slow and got lot of mistakes. So I thought if send he will improve in this area, but we didn't have time to do workbook.thats why now I hesitate to send tution. We can't monitor then.

My son very rare draw models. He doesn't like to draw models. He always do by mental calculation.Personally,I find that difficult for me.I can't do with out model. But sometimes he got wrong cos he didn't draw the model.

My son doesn't likes to go to tution. My another concern is money.

Attending Kumon does not help in solving problem sums.

                  Hi all,

What does Kumon help in? Is it useful to send kids to Kumon.
I am still thinking, your suggestion would really help.
                  Thanks

I feel that Kumon is more suitable for preschoolers. Mainly arithmetics.

Not so much on heuristic problem solving which is MOE style of questions
