Maths Assessment Books

There are so many assessment books in the market. What criteria do you use when selecting them? Do you select them based on the publisher or author?

Before chanced upon this thread, i choose based on feel and look, the chapters covered (preferred topic by topic), type of questions (eg MCQ, fill in the blanks, problem sums) and lastly how easy or difficult the book is for my DD.
Now i based on the recommendations from the forum :boogie: -
I have Andew Er Companion Maths for P2 (which is topic by topic) and Fabian Ng Problem Solving Process for P2 (pblm sums only).
Conquer Math and Onsponge Math the same? Is topic by topic or only problem sums? My girl hates Fabian Ng book but i think is quite good. -

I stay away from 'challenging' stuff for my kids now...esp younger one. Don't want to frighten her. Used to get Dawn Tai's Challenging 4-in-1 for my older boy. As for Onsponge, the school teacher ordered for the class. Thanks Janet. I better stay away from Onsponge for the time being.
Both my girls like Andrew Er as they think quite easy. But they are weak in problem sums thus i will continue to get Fabian Ng PSP then (going P3 and P2 next year). -

Problem-Solving Process in Mathematics: Fabian Ng, we did only 60% of the book. targeted Qs only
Visible thinking in mathematics, 2A,B finished the whole book (both a n b)
Andrew Er's Mathematics Worksheets. Manege to finish 75%
Fan-Math Process Skills In Problem Solving Level 2 Finished--90%
I-Excel Heuristic And Model Approach Level 2 Finished--90%
Fan-Maths I-Excel Model As A Tool Finished
Primary 2 Use of Heuristics In Problem Solving--Author\t: Andrew Er, Joanne Er tried only few Qs
Challenging Maths Author;Sandhya Sundar,456.com model as a tool. tried only few Qs (less than 10%)
CA & SA papers from SAP, Fan Math, 456.com -
just wonder with so many assessment books on hand, do your kids still attend tuition/enrichment classes? :scratchhead:

Nop… I am the tutor. Got panicked when she started the model Now I know…so next yr I might go for 2/3 only…

Hi All,
Just my own sharings
- with so many assessment books in the market, sometimes, one will be overwhelmed and really wanted to grab all(that was me in the beginning of this year when DD1 enters P3 
)
But after the CA1 & SA1, I get to speak with her Maths T and knows her weakness in Maths. She knows the concept but when there are more challenging questions appear, she will :scared: ...As such, Maths T advise to give her constant encouragement and reinforce her basic foundation concepts.
Below are the few assessment books I am using with my DD1. Some she does it independently at her own timing and with some I will sit with her, usually in the weekends to guide her :evil: :evil:
(1) Longman Practice My Weekly Companion Math

(2) Longman Topical Tests

DD1 has managed to complete (1), (2) & (5) up to the topics that her Maths T has completed. As for (4), I picked randomly for her to work on.
(3) is \"my baby\" ..too many problem sums in the assessment books and she is very \"reluctant\" & \"un-co-operative\" to do this one! 
Above just my own sharing and in no way am I related to any of the above publishers, authors or whatsoever -
OMG, my elder kid didnt managed to finish her only 2 books. I think i have been too lax. I told her next year P3 will have more books already. Must start pushing. haha.
BTW, what do you do with those books not completed?
