Preparing kids for P5 in 2011

Hi Janet, how about prepare the way what Chenonceau did for his ds. Quite difficult to achieve, IMHO.

Not possible to use that method...time is too short. Besides, I am not that committed and hardworking.

I'm feeling stressed and going to be burnt out. Have been going thru past year papers for 2009 Eng past year papers...printing out sections like synthesis, vocab cloze, compre cloze, vocab to help him improve. It's scary to be burnt out :nailbite:

I hope my son doesn't require tuition when he goes to Sec 1...I dare not even calculate the amount of money he is racking up every month for his tuition...ESP next year.

I've compiled a set of Synthesis and Transformation from all the 2009 top sch papers that are available on line. But it is for P6. Since P5 and P6 english almost same(frankly I can't tell which is which ) it could be useful to you. They are all typed out in a word doc. I was a bit lazy to type the ans key so I just cut and paste from the paper to a word doc. If you are interested pls let me know. PM me. I don't visit this thread often, just felt like peeping in today. :imanisland:

Hi, Need to seek some advice regarding English comprehension.


Is it true that answers should not be extracted from passage but must be paraphrased? DS was told by his English teacher that this is a PSLE requirement. But was trying out one of the top schools’ SA2 paper and noticed that answers are actually from the passage. So was wondering whether paraphrasing is really compulsory. DS usually has problems paraphrasing and loses many marks as his answers turn out to be different in meaning from passage because he can’t think of suitable words to ‘replace’ those from the passage.
