The schools I know of hold trials and auditions and the best are selected for the CCAs. If you're not selected by any CCA, you'll be 'dumped' into the unpopular ones which still have vacancies. In secondary school, it's the CCA that choose you, not you choosing the CCA. πŸ˜‰

I heard from my sec sch boys tt the CCA group will be setting up \"Booth\" when the kids report to sec sch in late Dec.

They Can Look-See, and Register later into the CCA Grp they interested in. Could be thru internet, could be thru form submission - depends on sch practice.

For Popular CCA, Audition / Trials will be held. πŸ˜‚

For Science, my DD noted that there are very few questions on the "popular"/"common" topics. Eg there is no Qn on parts of plant cell. Instead MCQ Qn is on cell as the basic form of life. There is also no Qn on reproduction in animals. Instead Paper B has Qns on dispersal of seeds and squirrel. The adaptation Qn on penguin (black colour / in a group) is also not covered in the guide books.

Seems that Paper B has quite a number of "unusal" application Qns - which require students to analyse and answer the Qns in their own words (i.e. memorising won’t help).

Though the Science paper is said to be relatively easy, it is probably not (at least for Paper B). Chances are students may have lost marks (incomplete/inaccurate answers) without realising it.

To give an example, in the Qn on leaving plates on rack to dry - if you say the plates have a bigger exposed surface area, you will probably get 1/2 mark only. To get the complete mark, you need to add that the water on the plate will evaporate faster.

Absolutely right. In answering section b, has to be very specific and always linked the answer back to the question. For the question on plates, they also ask for 2 reasons. Other than exposed surface area, do you think this is ok : -

'gravity acting on the water found on the plates causes the water to drip downwards off the plates, hence the plates dry faster'. I hope it's correct.
