Wow! So serious aah?jtoh:
anyone knows how schools choose students for sec one cca? do they hv to go for trial etc.? must students meet certain standards to be selected?
The schools I know of hold trials and auditions and the best are selected for the CCAs. If you're not selected by any CCA, you'll be 'dumped' into the unpopular ones which still have vacancies. In secondary school, it's the CCA that choose you, not you choosing the CCA.
So if u r interested to join say the chess club but do not qualify due to stiff competition, does that mean you can't join the chess club at all? I'm not talking abt school team just the join the CCA? :?
Depends on the school. Some schools only have space for school teams. Others may take in more. Some may not consider Chess Club a main CCA so anyone can join it as a second CCA. -

u r not alone, ngbrdad. DD (sec 2) exam will be commencing next wk till 19th Oct. So we'll be grounded at home for the next 2 wkends:( But at least the major PSLE is ovr, 50% of stress relieve:)Looks like we are one of the very few not going out to celebrate this week.
DS2's exam is next week so this weekend also probably just stay at home.
But DS1 is happy enough with his new NDS game, going online on facebook, watching tv etc. -

Hi, met my sister in law (teacher of one of the primary school) lat night and she mentioned to us the Science paper was tough as some of the children in the good class cannot complete the paper and in tear.
Hi Brenda,
Oh dear!! DD and her classmates finished the science paper within the stipulated time but DD drew different responses from her classmates...some said it was easy, some said paper was ok & manageable while a few said it was tough. The science paper was the only paper that produced varied responses from her classmates. -
Super Alice:
Hi Super Alice,Some of my friends who was school teacher commented the following:
English paper--- Toughest among so many years.
Maths Paper-----Questions look simple. Bur tedious in computation.
Chinese Paper--- As usual not too tough
Science Paper ---- Paper 2 a lot of thinking and comparison questions. Tough.
Thanks for sharing....interesting insight from a sch teacher.

Oh, this CCA thingy sound quite complicated to me(main CCA, second CCA  ). Must read up more on this probably in the sec school threads. But not now.
Depends on the school. Some schools only have space for school teams. Others may take in more. Some may not consider Chess Club a main CCA so anyone can join it as a second CCA.tisha:
