Ha my DS likes NDS pokemon games too.vlim:
Ds now shopping for books and mummy's gonna :moneyflies:

Vlim, not working today? Plan to buy a gift for DS as a reward for his hard work. Ask DS what he wants and DS says the whole series of horrible science books 'to begin with' (Wa, maybe followed by 'horrible history', 'horrible geography' & 'murderous math' etc etc???) :moneyflies:
DS hardly asks for toys or games (except his DS Pokemon series) as rewards. DS likes to read and collect books, and once he starts reading one book must collect whole series! :moneyflies:
Bought him a second hard pokemon game cartridge yesterday.
Should be able to keep him occupied for a while.
I've stop my kids from buying books as far as possible.
Simply no space to keep at home already.
Either borrow from the library and get ebook. -
This yearβs papers is quite easy , i am afraid that the score that was accepted by the schools will be much higherβ¦ >.<

ACSI also requires that every student does 2 CCAs each.
Blur Dad:
The only school that you can pick and choose CCA is NUSH.
Because the student population is so small.
NJC has a different trial system for CCA.
Again because the student population is small.
To my understanding, ACSI's students can choose their CCA also. ACS schools are very supportive of CCA, they believe that no one should turn down any students that show interest in CCA due to lack of vacancy
ACSI requires one CCA to be a uniform group. However, I was told that if you get in under sports DSA, and your training is intensive, they may exempt you from the second CCA. -
Mvm:
May get exemption also if you take 3rd language and can prove to them that there is simply no time.

According to a post here on views from some teachers, the English paper is the hardest in years. Math paper is time consuming, science is tricky and requires lots of thinking.
So definitely not an easy year.
Anyway if papers are all easy, T scores should be lower. -
anyone knows how schools choose students for sec one cca? do they hv to go for trial etc.? must students meet certain standards to be selected?
The schools I know of hold trials and auditions and the best are selected for the CCAs. If you're not selected by any CCA, you'll be 'dumped' into the unpopular ones which still have vacancies. In secondary school, it's the CCA that choose you, not you choosing the CCA.
Some primary schools are doing that too. Heard from friends that their kids were either \"kicked\" out of the CCAs or put in \"cold storage\" after a year or so. Make the kids feel so upset.
Yeah, that's the way it is with most schools, including primary school CCAs these days, sad to say. -
ngbrdad:
Generally it's the CCA that \"chooses\" you, despite what you put as 1st , 2nd, 3rd choice preference, even in NJC where they have the CAFE CCA rounds where they can try out 3 ccas in year 1. AT the end of year 1, they put in their preference for year 2 for core and subsidiary ccas. My boy had already auditioned and was part of a \"subsidiary\" cca in year 1, while at the same time participating in Cafe ccas. At end of year 1, none of the ccas he put in his preference form selected him. LOL. In the end, he applied and got approval for his \"subsidiary\" cca to be his \"core\".
The only school that you can pick and choose CCA is NUSH.tisha:
Wow! So serious aah?
So if u r interested to join say the chess club but do not qualify due to stiff competition, does that mean you can't join the chess club at all? I'm not talking abt school team just the join the CCA? :?
Because the student population is so small.
