GEP 2011 - Screening & Selection

Tresille:
My friend's dd in Nanhua, they started this a few years back. According to her, they \"trained\" their students for GEP, and those cleared round 1 will be allocated to HA class. It is a twinning programme with their GEP class. Anyone knows more perhaps can share?[/quote]so those who cleared round 1 from other school can apply for this twinning programme anot?
I heard Nanhua also got this HA class for those who cleared round 1 GEP screen test.ctct61t:

My ds's school started their \"HA class\" for students clearing round 1 last year. This year will be their 2nd batch. Ds has no streaming for P1 & 2, it will be done in P3. -

how are results realised? notification letter? or teacher just announce alist of names?
The FT called a few students out from the classroom, and handed them 2 pieces of paper. One is a letter, and the other a consent form for transportation to and from test center.Tresille:
oic. Thanks!
My ds's form teacher read out the names of the shortlisted students in class.jedamum:

Letter from MOE. -
My son also got into round 1, and he is not looking forward to transfer even if he get into round 2. :scratchhead: He loves his current school so much that he wake up early on his own to go to school and stay back in the library after school.
His school provides \"HA\" class for P4, it works the same as GEP,explained by his principal. For those who cleared round 1 will be streamed to \"HA\" class. -

this sounds like an ideal situation! How I wish dd's school has a similar program for those who cleared round 1.Hi
My DS also did not complete the Maths paper so its a little surprising that he cleared round 1, really cant tell what MOE looking for. The second round is on 18 Oct and 19 Oct and the briefing for the children selected for GEP will be on 12 Nov. Anyone knows what is General Ability? This is my first time seeing this.
Anyway, clearing round 1 is good enough cos his school provide a separate program for kids who cleared round 1. This program also continues into his affiliated secondary school.
Took him whole of primary one to settle down in school so no matter what, he will stay on in his school. -
ASLMUM:
Do any of you have any feedback from other parents whose kids are in GEP? I've heard from some other parents that GEP curriculum might not be suitable for everyone and many who passed the GEP selection test chose to stay in mainstream instead. Do you guys know of anyone who did that and what was their thought process?
What is your child's sentiment? is he interested? -

My dd went to hand up a file to her FT, and her FT told her, by the way, you are selected for Round 2 GEP test and gave her a Test Slip for Round 2
Then she just mentioned to the class that my dd was the only one from the class that cleared Round 1. Ha ha, I think it's easier when there's only one .... !

The HA students did non-core subjects together with the GEP classes. I think one of the parents here has a son in the twinning programme. Maybe he'll be able to share more.
