VooVoo:

From feedback in this forum (various threads), seems that they are good for creative writing...their only weekend class was full back in Aug. Just saw that another weekend class was opened. The class size is 6 and I was evaluating based on the teacher who will be taking the class. Each lesson is $55 for 1.5hours. At Holland close

Impressive quote i see \"Students benefit from a structured and well-developed English Language program and each year, the PSLE cohort received no less than As and A*s for the subject\"

Actually i saw this quote from the little ink pot... Not for TLL.. 😄
Either they are very confident or they are very good. How can this be proven? I know of kids who underwent TLL and still ended up with abysmal results.

I've heard of such case too.. scary.. :nailbite:
but i guess if they dare give such statistics, generally shouldnt deviate too far off i hope 🙂

I recall there was some news about a place that gave money back guarantee if kid's results fall. Ended up the parent couldn't get money back even though her kid's results deteriorate becos of some fine print.

Anyway, what I want to say is that centres may toot their own horn, but parents should do their homework and evaluation. Put our kids in places we can trust based on what we see and experience. Usually I go on feedback from persons I trust (either long standing members in the ksp community - that's how I came to know tas, or good friends - that's how I heard of icl).

It's just that we can't turn back the clock, I won't put my kid in a place that's not quite tried and tested - gutless maybe, or maybe just ks. :-P
Atan:
Basically, the teacher uses their writing book as the main teaching material. After teaching certain technique or phrases, the teacher will help the kids practise it in different scenarios so that they know how to apply it. Normally, one compo is written in each lesson.

Note that this P3/4 writing class is started on special request. TAS' regular Eng class consist of 1hr Grammer, compre, cloze, etc., n 1hr compo.
Hi, thanks for the reply. Will call up TAS to check their schedule. Heard is very difficult to get them. May need a referral. Can anyone help and advise how much discount will be given? Thanks!

I'm surprised because TLL screens their students before taking them in, don't they? So in a way they're kind of assured of an A/A* quality student before they even begin lessons?

I was surprised too. This happened to friend of friend...not too far away as to be mythical and certainly I can't name the kid in question. Not sure if there was any underlying reasons (eg environmental, medical) as to the results.

I don't think so, it was in the new paper. Just felt sorry for the family...not that they couldn't get a refund, but rather, the kid's results actually deteriorated after he/she switched to that centre.

                Hi,

Does anyone have any feedback on TAs’s creative writing camps held by their community service arm? I am thinking of signing up my kids for this Nov camp but would like to hear some feedback first.

                        Hi workingmummy,

I have not received your pm. Including myself, I have another 2 in the group through pms, so with your child’s details, we would have formed a group of 4 and can email TAS.
