sorry, need help for 1 more quest
When Janice bought some files,the average cost was $4. After she bought 1 more file at $16, the average cost became $7. How many files did she buy at first?
Thanks -

Thanks
\"Decrease\" in cost of the additional file
= Increase in average cost of the original number of files
So, $16- $7 = ($7-$4) x N, N = original number of files
N = 3
Total number of files = 3+1 = 4
Alternatively, you can also assume that the cost of the additional file was increased from $4 to $16 ie increase of $12 and this is averaged over all the files such that the average cost increase from $4 to $7,
number of files = $ 12 / ($7- $4) = 4

:thankyou:
Once again for your time. Took a little time to digest as I'm better at using Algebra. But finally saw the light!
Cheers!!
