We didn't hear anything about this last year now that you mentioned it. The tests are different papers from PSLE right? Maybe it's next year's PSLE draft papers. Hahah! Maybe they're testing to see if the papers are of the right difficulty. :rotflmao:

Of coz diff test papers fr psle lah.....haha

Oh yes, another piece of info....
My gal was told today by the sch that their class is expected
to take another maths test trial paper by moe after their EOY exams......
They were being told that ....\" it's compulsory that all citizens and pr who had taken their PSLE have to take this maths trial paper...\"

So up to u guys here to link up.....
Is there any purpose /reason of asking the PSLE pupils to take the test papers after PSLE and
      2 yrs after PSLE ?? πŸ˜‰

****Think more likely for some study/collection of statistics ****

Huh? :? That indeed is strange. So the whole Sec 2 cohort at your dd's school has to take the Math paper? Is it set at PSLE standards or Sec 2 standards? Strange lah. They should at least let the kids and parents know the reason behind the test. The kids must be so sian having to take a test after their PSLE and EOYs.[/quote]No, only selected few classes by SEAB are required to take the field Maths test,
not the whole of sec 2 cohort.

oh yes, finally get to read the email, stating that it is for research purpose.

yes, the pupils are very sian after knowing that they need to stay back
juz for the Maths test, as it will be conducted on the last day of their EOY exam. πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‚

            Snow Crystal:
First time hearing this - tests after PSLE and in Year 2! Seems like a case of MOE trying to right size the PSLE papers. If the exercise started in 2009 and now the same 2009 batch has to take some Math paper, then it could be somewhat related to the big hooha over the v tough 2009 Math PSLE paper(?). To collect data and gauge the variance between PSLE Math score and current Year 2 Math score.

Yes, the email stated that it is for some research purpose,
wonder is there any correlations with regards to 2009 Psle Maths.....

Is 2009 the 1 st yr where seab started that some pupils are req to take test papers after psle ??

His teacher says MOE explained that they just want to test their ability and use it as a guide line to set the next year psle paper .
But I don't think it make sense at all :siao:
Why don't they use this year psle paper as a guide line ??
(it will be more accurate as psle paper is for all the p6s cohort in Singapore)
don't make sense leh....they might as well look at the current yr pupils' performance.....
i think mostly to test them of their performance with and without exam stress.....
but again....not a very representative statistics in my view,
as my gal said that most of them (the P6 pupils) juz \"anyhow do it\"...kekeke πŸ˜‚

I agree with Augmum. It could be for some study.
When there is no impact of marks/grades do the students perform better or worse?
What kind of Qs (Logical Q?, Data related Qs, thinking Qs) the students can asnwer better when under exam stress as opposed to without exam stress?
What kind of information is retained for long term?
The actual marks of PSLE of student X can be compared to the marks of this mock exam and a lot can be inferred from it?

Yes, it 's for some research study......

hmm....i 'll ask my gal again in few days time what typeof Q are they ??
but according to her, shd not be that tough of DHS 's standard,
as expected that there are other sec schools which are involved in this study.

dunno whether SEAB would trace the actual PSLE marks of these pupils who will be taking the test ??

just curious, what do the P6 students do in school after PSLE?

they have to go to sch as usual....
the sch do plans some activities for them.....
i remembered they had an excusion and also a visit to orphanage or old folks home.....
