Wow, all the smart students from the same class. If all get into GEP, the school is going to close one class.toxic118:
Finally today his FT called and said his school got 12 students make it to the 1st round and my DS is one of them. Very grateful to his FT to call.
My son' school just released results yesterday, 50+ of his cohort made it to round 2 (of which 30 came from his class)
For my son class, only 8. -
Hmm....now i wonder how the questions will be like for those General Ability for English and Maths questions which test on logical thinking and general reasoning ability. Anybody have any ideals? :slapshead:
TIA!! :udawoman: :udaman:

Read a well known school’s P3 briefing slide that general ability paper is not the normal IQ test. So anyone has any idea what’s that?

Aka IQ tests. Don't think anyone even those with older kids can tell in concrete not becos they do not want to share but bcos very few kids can remember IQ questions in detail and the questions can change every year. -

Thx a lot Champion. Congrates to other successful candidates too. I don't put much hopes on him in 2nd round as he's no GEP preparation at all.
Dont worry, majority of the kids who got selected did not go for preparation course. My DS for one didn't. We just let him go & take the test, no preparation at all. So do not think that your kid has no chance, you might be surprised! :evil:Champion:

They can return to old school or stay in current school mainstream according to GE branch.
A friend whose child applied after 1 year to be transferred out of GEP bc they didn't like the not-so-positive influence that the child was getting in GEP and wanted to go back to old mainstream school was given LOADS of trouble by MOE. THey made it really difficult for them to transfer out of GEP. But they eventually did, lah.
What happens to children (who transferred to GEP sch) and quit GEP later? Are they automatically offered places in mainstream in the GEP school or can they return to their old school?allcc6:

U r right. My older children never had a chartered bus from the school to go to the test centre, and it's the same case with this DS. The school actually prefers to keep the students rather than 'donate' them to the GEP schools, so no preparation and of course no bus, which I can perfectly understand why. I don't mind, though. GEP should be as 'natural' as possible. Even though my older children didn't make it past 2nd round, they still did well in school and at PSLE. They might have suffered in GEP if they'd made it with so much help from the school and/or parents. I have heard of children who quit after just a year in GEP. -

Just curious, what sort of 'not-so-positive influence' & what kind of 'LOADS of trouble by MOE' ? -

Very proud and arrogant attitudes that they didn't like their child being influenced with.phankao:

MOE didn't want the child to be taken out of GEP, so at first didn't allow or approve at all. -

If the child is not performing, I doubt MOE will disallow the transfer.
