      hi kiasuadult!

i have been MIA for some time, sorry to miss your last post.

PSLE is over! How did you and your friends celebrate?

I happen to be in JP on the last day, with my kids, at around noon time and there were so many kids around 12yo, milling around, mostly very happy and jubilant and some were in NTUC stocking up on snacks, many were queueing at GV for movie tix, and many were in all the many restaurants eating together. so i was reminded, ahhhh, must be PSLE last day!

how was the PSLE for you?

abt the newsletter, yes, i received! and I like it! it's really nice way of bringing the community together (teachers/ parents/ students/ other staff).
my son appeared in it, so of course i will keep it nicely, and i think champion's dd also. ๐Ÿ™‚

not sure if LKVM's ds is somewhere inside as well? cos i've not met her. looking forward to more such comm betw school and home!

oh by the way, did many of you and your classmates DSA? and what schools are most of you thinking of choosing?

interested to know, cos i am sure my son will like to be with his friends too, in future.

hi kabalevsky! where is ur son? just curious. of course on the last day, the whole bunch of us pratically went wild with ecstacy! our teacher even had to remind us not to shout even though our papers are over. ๐Ÿ˜„ so i went out with my friend after the paper and we did see lot of 12yo children hanging around too at jp! i even went to catch a movie on fri for children's day! Ah! the timing is perfect for us to totally enjoy after psle since it's the last year. as for psle i think it was quite manageable but i hope i dun make any careless mistakes or too less info given :xedfingers: ๐Ÿ™ i did apply for rvhs through dsa but got rejected

            hey kiasuadult,

i will PM u abt my son. ๐Ÿ™‚

haha, can imagine how happy u all must be, cos after all the hard work, it is time to have fun finally!

hope you didn't make any careless mistakes and get everything possible correct so you can score really high and get into RVH or whichever dream school you want!

for now, enjoy whatever's left of your remaining days in Pr school and capture as many happy memories as possible!

oh yes, ytd assembly was very fun was it? my son came home humming some tunes and kept making different sounds with his vocal chords and then when i asked him where he learnt all these, he said during assembly, cos some invited guest performed beat boxing?

and oh yes, for other parents with P1 kids, this term's PAL for the P2s is Gym. The external vendor teaches them gymnastics I think. Ds1 talked about forward rolls and stuff. Said it was very fun.

can't believe this is Term 4 already. and soon their P2 year will be over! next year, it's time for him to work much harder as the CAs and SAs will begin. hope he's fortunate to get good teachers like this year! ๐Ÿ™‚

yes the assembly during monday was one of the most fun assembly i had in my most six years. a hip hop group called built from skratch came to let us know more about hip hop culture. check out the videos of the performance at these links http://www.youtube.com/vjskratch#p/a/u/1/0e1o7Mq2L9E and http://www.youtube.com/vjskratch#p/a/u/2/U0rJbM5D7w0. they were quite entertaining and the one doing the beat boxing was actually a 4 time national champion for beat boxing! and he did mention that he honed his skills from young so maybe ur son is aspiring to be like him? ๐Ÿ™‚

oh and for the pal programme it seems so fun! i'm jealous ๐Ÿ™‚ because during our time we did not even get to have fun like this! and the p2 even have swimming lessons which we did not have as well. so sad ๐Ÿ˜ž

yes LKVM! time flies right? so cliched but itโ€™s so true! P3 sounds so big to me. for you, your son will be in P2, also sound so much bigger than P1 hor?

thanks Kiasuadult for the hip hop videos! I didnโ€™t know abt the hip hop too. cos Ds1 only did all the funny vocal things. i can ask him abt it now. good to have you in this forum to share!

indeed, the kids nowadays have a lot more fun stuff in school. me, champs and LKVM time did not have all these, and did not have all your things too! so each generation and cohort will envy the later ones!

like, I didnโ€™t have IP schools to go to. had to take O then A levels. so many exams! didnโ€™t have overseas trips in school. at sec or JC level, only for the very select few. but now, whole cohorts get to go overseas on learning journeys! the camps now look so fun too!

and err, for assembly. i always hear ds1 mentioning a lot of fun stuff and performances. funny, LKVM and champs, do you remember all these for Pr sch assembly? i certainly donโ€™t!!

Being quite awhile that I din drop-by to say Hi!

Term 4 is rather a short and busy one and now is already week 5!  Have been busy around DD1 for her upcoming SA2 exams - in fact she just had her Listening compre on Monday and Tuesday, tomorrow will be EL Compo and Friday is CL Compo ๐Ÿ˜“ ๐Ÿ˜“

Then in about 2.5 weeks' time will be the paper 2 which constitute 50% to the overall weightage :nailbite: :nailbite: This is the final spring in the long marathon run since beginning of P3 this year and I must say, :thankyou: it gonna ends soon! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I must say the journey thru from Jan till now is a challenging and a hectic one that I always wanting to :siam: ๐Ÿ˜† ..But on the other hand have to tell myself to press on because it is thru this learning process, i get to be in the study-partnership with my DD1 :please: :please:

I am looking forward to the Parent-Teacher-Meet (PTM) :rahrah: ...but don't think the school has issued any letter informing parents of the actual dates right? Hope to have more time to chat with the teachers

I havenโ€™t received anything on PTM yet. I think Champs is assuming thereโ€™ll be one since there was one last yr and the yr before last. I am thinking there should be, although it is not on the school calendar, am I right?

Or is it that usually there are 3 PTMs in the year and since there was one in Mar this yr, does it mean no more in Nov?

Cos last yr there wasnโ€™t any PTM in Mar.

                      I guess weโ€™ll wait for more newsโ€ฆ

LKVM, haha, yes, I also vaguely remember some community song singing and school song singing during assemblies. That's when we learnt those songs like \"roll over the ocean, roll over the sea\". Do they still learn it now? Champs? KiasuAdult?

Cos this is one song I rem all Pr sch kids used to learn but I don't hear both my ds singing it now.

I also remember different teachers or classes do take turns to perform something on stage, sometimes story telling or songs. Sometimes the P will give a speech the entire session, reminding us to be responsible etc, all those value-imparting. (I was from Catholic Pr school that's also SAP, so they emphasise a lot on being respectful etc too)

That's abt it. Don't think there was hip hop dancing trend in Sg yet at that time. haha

Champs, I think it is great you are a partner in studying with your dd. I hope to do that nxt yr with ds1 too. I will definitely browse through the assessment thread in KSP for advice before heading to Popular this yr end! ๐Ÿ™‚
