All I wanted is to get ONE book, but still couldn make up my mind to pick/choose that ONE. :stupid:

      janet_lee88:
Like you, I only want to get ONE title but yet it's so hard to do so :slapshead: :slapshead:

:hi5: :grphug: Yes, I wish there is ONE & ONLY Maths Book that I will get for DD1 and she will be :please: πŸ’‹ for that! πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰

As I mentioned in my earlier post, the one that I must and will definitely get for my DD1 is the:-
Primary 4 Challenging Maths (New Syllabus) by Sandhya Sundar, publisher - EPH.

I like this series of books too. However, they are difficult. My DS1 only started and completed the P1 and P2 books this year. He started P3 in September and has struggled with the first two chapters.

This book contaons word problems and therefore children who use it need very good reading comprehension. I sould cerainly revommend this book as it sharpens up higher order maths skills.

Champion, i would like to ask if you have tried Terry Chew's Maths Olympiad Trainer Junior 2. I May use it as an alternative to Sundar's P3 book.

          Hi Mummies,
I won't dare to buy Sandhya Sundar and Dawn Tai...my daughter will be scared off Math completely...I am looking for that ONE AND ONLY assessment now - not too easy but not too challenging either. Not too much to ask for right ?

            Ok I going to try

Primary 3 How To Improve Your Maths (New Syllabus)
            Author : Andrew Er
            Publisher : Educational Publishing House
            Level : Primary 3
            Item Code : 9789814218481
            Usual Price : S$8.90

Synopsis says How to Improve Your Mathematics contains graded exercises designed to help the pupil grasp the various mathematical concepts.
The exercises allow the pupil to practise what has been taught in school.
Above thing is what I like abt the book but what I don't like is below....

A wide variety of questions, including difficult ones, will challenge the pupil?? mental capability. :xedfingers:

and i-Excel, Heuristic and Model Approach by Li Fanglan.

If I need more books I'll get it later during next yr 🀷.......

Same here...will get what I need for first half of the year first. There will be a 20% discount during June holidays. But I definitely need a Math assessment which has 2-step prob. Plum-cake, pls give me your opinion/suggestion since your daughter is in P2. Thanks.

                Hi plum-cake
Hope you do not mind me kaypoh...
You might want to consider the following book by Andrew Er instead πŸ™‚
I did a comparison between \"How to improve your maths\" & \"Maths Companion\" and i find that \"Improve\" is more for students to build basic foundation. Compared to \"companion\" which has more variety of questions. You might want to drop by popular take a look πŸ™‚

                  :salute: to you Young HL
I was at popular with both the books in my hand. Maths Companion is also not bad. for my girl's daily practice I thought \"How to improve your maths\" is just right for her. And another friend of mine also gave me an advice like this..
New Syllabus Math by Andrew Er---is for low ability
How to improve your maths/ Maths Companion are for average ability

so far 2 votes for maths companion , I will go for it..thanks

                    Janet,
If you are looking for problem sums go for psp by Fabian Ng. Its a wise choice. :xedfingers: this book for P2 also carries Qs like
\" There is a total of 11 cows and ducks in a farm. these animals have a total of 36 legs. how many of each animals.....\"
It contains 2 step problems in addition and substraction as well as 3 step problems with comparison model. It is thick because it has an example and followed by 5-10 similar questions to practice.
