      Zann:

Very proud and arrogant attitudes that they didn't like their child being influenced with.

MOE didn't want the child to be taken out of GEP, so at first didn't allow or approve at all.

If this is true, you will see a lot of parents pulling out their kids from GEP. Due to my ds in GEP I have a good contact with his group of GE friends and I find them very mature and sensible kids. No proud and arrogant attitudes. My ds has a lot friends from mainstream also. Some from as long as from P1.。
Hey, this is just what this child's parents said. So maybe they did observe their originally \"saintly\" child changing lor. They preferred the religious environment of previous school. Anyway, the child already 18 now. Did very well even though transferred back to mainstream.

Main stream in top school think GEP are howlian

Neighbourhood school think RI are howlian

True or false. Parents from GEP and RI will say FALSE. Parents from mainstream and neighbourhood school will say TRUE.

Personally I think there are some truth, at least 50%.

OK start firing I am going to hide.

I heard that this year's first screening take in 30% of students and not the usual 8-10%? Anyone can confirm?

No way!! See the below fm the MOE website:

How many pupils are invited to sit the GEP Screening Test and the GEP Selection Test?

The whole Primary 3 cohort is invited to sit the GEP Screening Test. About 4000 pupils are shortlisted after the GEP Screening Test to sit the GEP Selection Test.

            Did a simple test,

suppose this years student number is: 42000
            30% of 42000: 12600
there are about 180 primary school in total, thus there should be average 70 students in each school pass round 1 test.
NYPS and PHPS have achieved their target, how about the rest?

            Is this figue true?

Heard from 2 different people that Rulang has 66 and 80+ respectively. Either one, also reach target.

                  WCW:
                  phtthp:

so far, which of the following primary schools have most pupils clearing both rounds 1 and 2 ?

                  - Rulang
                  - Pei Hwa
                  - Rosyth

                  - Tao Nan
                  - Nan Hua
                  - Nanyang

                  - Kong Hwa
                  - Catholic High

                  - St Hilda
                  - ACS
                  - South View
                  - Bkt Panjang

how u get these? dnt think there is any statics on this right?

Wcw, phtthp is asking for the statistics from parents belonging to these schools for past years' outcome. As for how she derived this list, she based it on P1 registration popularity.

phtthp, RGPS is a popular school right? How come it is not on your list of interest? :? Also, your question is too generic, what is the purpose of knowing? Maybe you want to narrow it to 2010 results only? In any case, any year you pick is only an indication because every cohort can vary dramatically. It really depends on the cohort, not the school. Only schools who provide training to the children, you can perhaps get some meaningful info if such schools are \"value-adding\" to the children by the training or not. Schools who did nothing, it is like striking lottery whether 10 gets into GEP or 50 gets into GEP depending on the cohort's intrinsic strength.

metta, looks like yr kid is fm Rulang. Rulang has a good reputation for producing good results and thus the high % success for screening test. Its results cannot be used as a benchmark for the general schools in Singapore.

Anyway, it is an ‘interesting’ rumour. Care to share the source of the rumour?

No, my ds is not from rulang. I heard from a colleague. He said he was surprised that his ds got the 1st round until his ds said that his teacher told him abt the 30% thingy. But oh well.

Maybe the teacher meant that 30% of Rulang got through to the Selection Test.
