GEP 2011 - Screening & Selection

No, my ds is not from rulang. I heard from a colleague. He said he was surprised that his ds got the 1st round until his ds said that his teacher told him abt the 30% thingy. But oh well.metta, looks like yr kid is fm Rulang. Rulang has a good reputation for producing good results and thus the high % success for screening test. Its results cannot be used as a benchmark for the general schools in Singapore.
Anyway, it is an 'interesting' rumour. Care to share the source of the rumour? -
metta:
Maybe the teacher meant that 30% of Rulang got through to the Selection Test.

Or maybe the teacher meant 30% of his class made it to round 2?!
Erm... Actually not. He is not from Rulang, just a neighborhood school in JE.
You know how often times children may not communicate the complete or coherent message/info... Eg my dd told me that her teacher said xxx gets (or will get) into GEP. Then I asked how does your teacher know since they haven't even taken the rd 2 tests? You mean she said xxx passed Round 1 GEP? Then my dd said, ya, that's exactly what I meant.. :? -

Maybe his teacher meant 30% of his school got through? I agree with MommyNg, sometimes kids mis-hear things. Or even teachers mis-hear things.

I'm sure it couldn't be 30% made it through to the Selection Test.

Everyone in Pri 3 will sit for the round 1 screening test for GE, unless opt out
10% will be going into round two, and out of this, 10%, or 1% of original number, will be selected for the GE, so it is approx 400+ to 500 there about
pri schools do not do training for the kids to perform in the GE screening test
it has always been like this for years β¦ unless this year MOE changed the norms ? -

Maybe MOE decided on Monday that there should be 4001 students pass Rd 1, then decided yesterday it should be now 4005...?
