oh.. so your ds got a Waitlist offer from HCI?
Ya, I am on WL from HCI, CO from NUSHS .... Received DSA Option Form from school today....dagong99:
May I know are there any parents who received calls from HCI asking them to put HCI as first choice yesterday? I was just wondering what's the reason for calling the parents when they've already sent out emails and letters.
Yes, I received a call from HCI too a few days ago, asking me to go for the parents symposium, saying my DS among top 50, as good as CO. When I told him my DS already got another CO from NUSHS, he kept on telling me we have to put HCI as 1st choice, otherwise DS will sure go to NUSHS. Just wonder how many parents they called & say the same thing. -
DS received the DSA School Preference Form from his school today.
Submission via internet system from 24th Oct 9am onwards. Can also submit form via the primary school.
Submisison will close at 3pm on 28th Oct.
I trust most should receive by this week; if not, do check with your child’s primary school. -

Hi, sorry to butt in, but DD only got a bronze for SMOPS, nothing else, n she got CO from RGS, through Maths domain. She is from mainstream, not GEP.
:congrats: your gal must have perform well in her GAT Test and Impress them during her Interview!
It already is. People who apply for Math Domain usually are armed with certificates from SMOPS, NUSH and even SMOJ.jtoh:

At this rate, MO award will become a basic attachment for DSA Maths Domain ....

Oh, most likely NUSHS bcos he has keen interest in Maths & Science. But DS is now in dilemma as most of his group of best friends who wanted to stay together didn't get in, so all will try HCI using PSLE results as NUSHS must get in via DSA....only about 15 places reserved for PSLE & based on last year COP 264, hard to get in. So sad....
Your ds is v talented in math. Which school is he planning to choose - NUSH or HCI?dagong99:
Just to share, my DS also attained SMOPS Platinum and we were told by other parents that once you have Platinum, will sure get into HCI but too bad, my DS was put on WL, although among the top 50. Luckily, DS got CO from NUSHS....Phew ! So SMPOS Platinum does not guarantee entry via DSA into top schools although it definitely helps. -

Yes, I agree math olympiads do still have a role to play in DSA. After all, there is a specific DSA domain for Math to apply under for some schools. It's just that through the years, it's getting tougher and tougher to secure a DSA through Math as more and more students participate in MOs and go for coaching and get better at it. You are absolutely right about other factors such as personality, aptitude and attitude coming into play of course.
If it is so sure, then the MO training school revenue will surge and surge.
It's already been surging the last few years. And the trainees get younger and younger.
Ya, agreed, my elder DS started MO training in P4, now my younger DS starts this year at P3, so really starting earlier & age getting younger ... just wonder next time how my younger DS is going to get through ... elder DS's era already so tough to get CO even armed with SMOPS & other certs like RIPMWC, UNSW .... many of his classmates with excellent school results & either High Distinction or Distinction for UNSW for most subjects also rejected ....
