Forget about MS (Yew Tee branch)…tons of negative feedbacks from parents. Do a few internet search to find out yourselves. I switched my son to another tuition centre last month after a year with them. Didn’t see much improvement in his maths and english from P2 to P3…

Can anyone share their experience with LCentral Tiong Bahru & Holland? Am contemplating if I should send my son (P5) but dunno if it’s too late for him to et used to the system there, the program seemed very structured.

24hr-mum:
hi 24hr-mum, i am thinking of trying TAS after seeing some good reviews of the course, can you provide more info as in why is TAS no good? what is their teaching style? will the kids remember what they had learn from TAS and apply in their sch compo? how long have you join TAS? understand their class size is max 15, with such a big group will it be 'effective' for the kids to learn? how is their way of teaching compre? do they just give them a compre and go through the answer with the kids after they had written the answers, or are they special/specfic techniques taught?i tried tas, the eng components are quite good but the compo is turning me off cos my kid doesnt like to memorise the entire compo....
any feedback on growan or other recommend centres?
hope to have more feedbacks on other parents who is attending or had attended TAS. thanks -
My child only attended for a mth. they charge by per term. she joined mid-term. but last 2-3 lessons i didnt let her go, partly due to logistics cos its a nite class, traffic jam very bad. but lesson wise, they do teach grammar rules, compre. for compo, my girl expected to memorise quite a big chunk of it. she hates it.
compre wise, i dont see any techniques. just do compre n gv answer. teachr will mark. but class size being big, if the child is active and need indiv attn type then i dont think suitable. but then i only had attended a mth. not sure my feedback is valid or not. but the memorising turns my girl off so i dont plan to try anymore… -
My children are at TAS and I went for a recent parents workshop held during childrens day and I realize for comprehension, they do have very specific techniques and even for comprehension mcq, they will teach the children how to identify what they call red herrings which are distractors. For compo memorisation, they used to do that quite a bit but now they hardly do that. Perhaps as the students get the hang of writing, they do not need to memorise.

Yes, I agreed with quirkymum with the composition. Initially, they got a number of the memorisation to do but after a while, once they get the hang of it, the children will able to write out. Of course, this take time for them to get the hang of it.
As always, we would say that the course will depend on the individual children on how fast they can absorb and like the class or not. -

any feedback jan and elly serangn gdns esp compo n compre class?
Hi 24hr-mum
I am unsure of the J&E in Serangoon but the one a railway Mall is not that good. Personally, I felt that is not v helpful to my kid. He enjoyed gg but din learn much from here. He likes the teacher but he played with the kids. I pulled him out aft 1+ yr there. He started w creative writing and thereaft, compo. -

Tampines not so good. Science is just giving question papers and completing question papers . English is far better when compared to Science in the centre but still normal.Essential:
Some of the staff are really sucks.... I experience in Bishan branch. Clementi branch the staff are ok
Are centers managed by head office better run? With better teachers?
Most centers are franchises, only a few are managed by head office eg. Serangoon, Clementi..
HEL and EL are all same. HEL means doing in faster phase and EL means doing slower phase. same for Science . This the centre admin told me .
