All About Full-Time Maids

My rule-of-thumb is that I won’t ask my maid to do anything that I wouldn’t do if I was a SAHM. Having said that she does probably mop more frequently than I would at the request of my husband and m-i-l.

for all my maids, they used the mop for the floor. i cant remember which one started it but she liked to hand wash the kitchen floor. so when the new maid came, she trained her to do it the same way and the cycle just continued for the next one.


the maids used the washing machine for their clothes and though i told them to handwash their undies, i dont check to see if they put them into the machine. we dont mixed hers and ours together to wash.

for me, as long as they look after my kids well, i am fine with anything else. so far, except for the first maid (finished her 2 years contract), the rest stayed with me for more than 3 years.

I am not sure I am paraniod, but can mummies here tell me how would you react if you found out that :


(1) Your maid have a facebook account
(2) Post sexy pictures of herself (one picture taken on my bed when I’m not at home)
(3) Engages in Cyber-dating

I told my hubby to start looking for another maid, but he claims that I am over-reacting and that all Filipino maids are like that. Even if I get a new one, it will be the same or could be worst.

thanks for all the advices! ya...all households are different and different priorities. i think if i ask maid to handwash clothes, DH will say something. of cuz undies is a no no in washing machine which i will tell maid strictly on that!


DH is one extreme while i am in the middle. reason why want to give maid all Sundays off was because DH dun want maid to be around and want our own family time. but now this maid i am taking in only want 1 day off in a month, not very \"clever\" to offer 4 sundays straightaway right? Anyway will tell DH this time round, I will fully take charge of maid issues (2nd maid so far only) wish me good luck!

I wouldn’t have worried about 1 or 3 but no. 2 is a violation of your privacy. I would suggest that you talk with her, give her a stern warning then in the meantime start looking around for a replacement in case you don’t feel that she is going to change.

You are not paranoid... I would be doubly paranoid and would be finding the replacement :siam:

DITTO. having fb account is fine. But engaging in cyber dating and even taking pictures on employer's bed is a big no no. Not sure what other photos she may have taken in various parts of the house. :yikes:

The picture taken on my bed is fully clothed (Thank god).


My maid have been with me for 4 years and I just renewed her for another 2 years recently. She took care of my boy since he was born, my boy is already 4 years old. She doesn’t look like someone who will do such things, that’s why I’m trying to get over the shock. She always uses her HP, I thought she was only exchanging SMS with her friends. But last week, suddenly my FB suggested me to add her as my friend, that’s when I know she have FB and I started looking into her FB account. She seemed to be ‘hooked’ on facebook chatting. Besides uploading her own pictures, she also uploaded pics taken together with my boy. The number of "likes" are even more than mine!!!
