My dh noticed the high panels in front of the stalls too. I wasn’t looking closely…maybe they don’t sell soupy dishes?
Good news about the catered food system being scrapped. Didn’t really talk to anyone today, just wanted to get it over and done with. My son enjoyed himself though. He made countless ‘friends’ (none of whose names he knows). -
but i really worried abt the high panels. i think it was meant for sec sch boys.,… but my boy surely cant reach

vicki:
My son told me there was once boys from another class wanted to play with them but my son's class did not hear and hence did not reply. Then the boys called boys from other P2, P3 and P5 classes to my son's class and wanted to beat them up. When the boys saw these other group approaching, they hid themselves. But subsequently a fight broke out between them using feather dusters, brooms, etc.
Yah - agree with Cherrygal regarding PE shirts. Some weeks - i dont even wear the School shirt at all - cos my boy has ECA and they are allowed to wear T-shirts (for that day).cherrygal:
Dun skip admin day coz while the parents listen to the talks and tips, your boy will get to make more friends and won't be so afraid on the first day of school. My boy managed to make 5 friends on admin day alone. The kids also get brought around the school grounds and play games.
Another tip, buy more PE sets than white shirt sets. My boy only has to wear his white shirt on one day per week. I ended up with 3 sets and one is still brand new. I bought 3 sets of PE uniforms and 1 house T-shirt (wear once a week).
The kids don't need to change out of PE attire if they have PE that day. Very flexible. Less ironing for me!
I like MSHS for its good admin people. The admin team is very organized. Teaching culture is not very stressful though some teachers are fiercer than others and have their own idiosyncracies. The younger teachers are nicer and easier to talk to. I find the many ongoing tests more stressful than scheduled exams coz you won't really know when the tests are coming. Your boy has to be on his toes and pay attention in class. Blur kids or talkative kids may suffer a little.
There will be bullies in every school. You need to teach your kid to either fight back or avoid the bullies. My ds' friend got punched in the eye and the head. My ds even told me he had to stop another kid from kicking him in the abdomen by holding that boy's foot. So Jackie Chan...
Cherrygal - alamak! regarding the Fights!! Either my boy is very sotong or just too bochap - he didnt tell me about any fights in class or school!!
Somehow when I heard about it, I wasn't too worried cos my son's class was not the attackers. -
aiyo i will be worried abt my son being attacked.
is bullying common in this school? -
I think bullying is common everywhere, and since ages old.

jus curious, for parents whose boy is in MSH P1 nx year, does he have problems wearing and taking off the formal school shorts - the metal thing and the inside button??
thinking of doing a stud to make it easier to wear -

I think that's a great idea. I think my boy will have a problem with the inside button. AND he already takes so long in the toilet! Can get one of those big-sized studs. -

That is a valid concern. If they confirm on Orientation Day that the boys will be buying their own food, we ought to bring it up. -
i have brought it up to the admin and they say they will ask the panel vendor to address the issue, prob by creating an opening somewhere to pass the food more easily to younger boys…its good the school is prompt in response

Alamak!
I actually like the catered food scheme leh!! Sigh! Must be the complaints that they got irritated with. Darn! Maybe i should complain to them to bring it back!
