I am also very confused with the Mother Tongue exam? Do the students take the exam at JH3 or JH4? Is it Mother Tongue or Higher Mother Tongue? Which grade will determine the exemption at Senior High?

Hope to hear from existing JH3 or JH4 students.

I don't know if it's the same at NJC as it is in other IP schools; in other IP schools, HMT is taken at Year 4. So long as you pass, you get exemption from MT in JC.

      Thanks jtoh.

So must enroll & sit for HMT O Level exam in Year 4 ?[/quote]Yes, the school will enrol you for the HMT O level exam to be taken in Year 4.

Meaning there is still at least 1 year time to pull up my boy's ability. His cloze passages and summarising passages are still on shaky grounds.

My girl also struggling & failing in some section of Chinese. But she said better to loon and bear with the HMT if not she has to take MT all the way to A Level. She is hoping and šŸ™ that the school won't ask her to drop.

So I think better ask your boy not to opt out... just my girl's opinion ...

                        Cheers
