oh, so these days, no more Math textbook. But my DD doesnt have Math workbook too. Heard from a mummy, she mentioned that these days, the kids seems to be doing more on worksheets. Hmm... save the environment?

wow, your school not even workbooks? Maybe teachers' production? I find that a number of schools are using in-house materials.

ya, not even workbooks. Now, I'm nervous. Dunno what the school is gg to teach them. Oh, teachers' production? Hope it is good. :scared:

        Hi mummies,

My dd1 is also born in 2005. I'll pop by this thread sometimes to read but can barely catch up with the chat with it moving so fast!

        Pigrabbiit,
All maths books are also excluded in my DD1's booklist. I was shocked at first but seems some schools are also doing the same. Now that there's no books for English and Maths, Social Studies books are the most expensive liao!!
        Harlow genmai,

Hahaha, sometimes I also couldn't catch up. That is why I said the mummies are power!!!! can work, do housework and chitchat at the same time. :rahrah:

Wah, so your DD's school also dun have textbook for English & Math ?

          gaffy, genmai, Pigrabbiit,

Have u attended school orientation? DId the P mention why there's no textbks/workbooks for maths?

For English, if there's no textbk, I can still turn to good storybooks. But if there's not textbks for maths, then what resources can we use? Just leave it in the teachers' hands?
I have yet to attend the orientation. Kellock let P1 parents buying books and uniforms early this week. Yes, I really wonder what can I do. Maybe I will just buy more assessment books for her to try. I find it quite scary to leave everything to teacher's hands. :yikes:

May I know which is your DD1's primary school?
            Thank you, SAHM_TAN!

My DD1 will be attending St Hilda's. Orientation is on 11 Nov so still clueless about this change. Hope the P will shed some light on that day.

With no textbooks it'll be hard to do revision and cannot foretell what they'll be learning. I know they use My Pals textbook this year, maybe can use as a guide if the syllabus dun deviate much.

              Multi-tasking at it's best!! They're all experts! šŸ˜„

I was prepared to fork out lotsa $$ for books, turn out only need for chinese and social studies. In the end the miscellaneous items will cost more than text/workbooks combined!!

Maybe they are using in-house materials so as to align with their own maths prog. You will know for sure on 11th Nov šŸ˜„

MOE seems to give school more room to customize.

                      Yup, hope it's a good change! šŸ™

Good and bad to customization. If same syllabus and different approach, can play on school's strength and students' needs. But if deviate from normal syllabus then hard for parents to coach with no textbooks on hand lor. :scratchhead:
